I have a MAS 36 Rifle that ive inherited from my grandfather recently

ive cleaned it up and refinished the stock and am pleased to say it looks good and the rifling looks to be in good shape as well :D

a few questions though....
where is a good place to find reloading dies for the 7.5 mas? ive looked online some and havnt really found much :(

another thing is that when i was looking through some of the other mas 36 threads i read that the gun isnt supposed to have a safety...mine however has one just behind the bolt...is there anything significant about this?

I also have interest in putting a scope on it and am trying to find options for that....

and finally...ive cleaned and oiled the thing out quite a bit...are these guns just made to have an ultra stiff action??

7.5x54 MAS lee dies can be had from midwayusa rather inexpensively

Brass can be had by buying loaded Privi ammo or as a component from Grafs. DO NOT form 7.5mas cases from 6.5x55 no matter what you read in a manual or online.

Golden State Arms a small mom and pop importer and sporterization outfit from way back when added the aftermarket safety feature you speak of

unless you're willing to drill and tap there are no options, I scoped an MAS I had using a weaver side mount. This rifle is getting parted out BTW

I consider the MAS to be smoother than some military actions, is the bolt and raceways gummed up from sitting or being smoked around 24/7 (don't laugh I've had it happen)

well it isnt that its hard to pull the bolt back its the turning the bolt thats so sticky...im not sure whats up with it....but yeah once you get to pulling it back its nice and smoothe

i really cant wait some ammo and shoot the thing
its even shorter than my marlin 336 and i think it would be a great gun to go tromping around with for pigs

and with a scope it would be even better i think

disassemble the bolt and clean the firing pin cocking piece and apply some grease to the cocking cam, also check to see if the add on safety catch is interfering
