I know that there have been Massechusetts Knife Law threads before but in reading through them I could not get a really clear idea of whats allowed and what is not.

I would like to ask 2 questions:

1. Folding Knife Laws...

Some of what I've read seems to imply that you cannot possess a folding knife with a blade in excess of 1.5"....is that really true?

2. Non-Folding Knife Laws...can I carry a KBar? OC/Non OC?

Can someone give me a clear/non-legal BS answer?

Tx in advance

Thanks but thats the same legal bull**** that I was hoping someone would dumb down for me....there are too many commas/conditions etc.

Could someone sum it up for a dope like me?

Can I carry a 3" folder or not?

Can I carry a KBAR or not?

I know how you feel, jpk. I carry a Buck auto assist folder on me most of the time. When I'm out in public I usually un-clip it from my pocket and let it fall down to the bottom of my pocket as not to create any situations or become the target for a mugging or whatever.

What bothers me though, is that when I bought it from Wal-Mart in MA the guy said something to the respect that the knife itself is illegal in the state.

So I just carry this guy and don't get into trouble. I don't use it for self defense I use it because keys aren't for opening boxes.

I lived in MA for a short time, and I believe if the blade wasn't longer than the palm of your hand, you weren't going to get in much trouble. Now, I know that isn't official, but when I was there it was a a simple judgement call.

You also need to realize that different cities have different laws, as well (at least, so different police officers have told me - I never researched the city laws, myself).

If what you're looking for is legal advice, you shouldn't look on the Internet. While there are some very knowledgeable people, here, and some of them are even lawyers, the best thing that you can do, if you want legal advice, is to find and ask a qualified lawyer - one who you want arguing for you if you are arrested and charged with a crime, related to your carrying a knife.

Just keep in mind that if its in a pocket and out of sight they can get you for a concield weapon if they want to is all.
