Match grade brass--Does it really make a difference?

I have been reading about the history of the National Match competitions. One aspect that is particularly interesting was how brass was created match standards. Does match brass make that much of a difference as it pertains to accuracy?

I just picked up 60 rounds of 1968 M72 Match 30-06 in the boxes and was wondering what all the prep on cases really accomplished.

M72 brass is only slightly better than regular M2 brass. If you want some truly match brass, buy Lapua. I match prepped M72 brass, and Lapua brass right out of the box outshot it.
