I recently bought a sporterized 98 in 7x57 caliber made in Herstal Belgium. The serial number is under 150. I have to remover the front scope mount to get more information Can anyone tell me anything about it?

With FN, serial numbers mean liittle as they tended to start a new range with each contract; good pictures are needed, including pics of the top of the receiver ring with the scope mount removed.

Sorry,You have what I have to go own for the time being. I have to remove the scope bases today to get the info on top.
Thanks for the contract info, I didn't know that. I've never been around Mausers before and had no idea the amount of info stamped into the receiver. There are some numbers stamped into the barrel out near the muzzle end. I'll get those too.

I found the info I was looking for after removing front scope base. The rifle was made by FN in Herstal Belgium in 1924 for Mexico. Republic of Mexicana in stamped in it.
