Hi reaching out to any gunsmiths who have worked with the husqvarna fn98 commercial rifles.

I have a fn98 commercial rifle in 8x57 but want to rebarrel the action with a heavier caliber. I have a few in mind however I know very little about the older Mauser actions and what they can handle.

I have found some articles that say they can handle “high pressure” rounds such as the 30-06. However the caliber I would like to do creates quite a bit more pressure then the 30-06. I really want to rebarrel the rifle in 375 ruger so peek pressure can potentially reach 62,000. Quite a bit more then the 30-06. Wondering if anybody has rebarreled a fn98 commercial in a true high pressure round or has any info on somebody who might know? Any info is a big help.
Thanks in advance.

I don't think you have a problem with strength, FN sporting rifles came in all calibers, "high intensity" and Magnum.
I do wonder about mechanical handling of the .375 Ruger cartridge. Open up the bolt face to magnum diameter and hope the rails will feed the rounds with or without modification.
How about a nice 9.3x62 or .35 Whelen?

I don’t mind the work or money. I did consider both the 9.3 and the 35 Whalen but the ruger give you just a bit more. And with Buffalo and brown bear on the menu I want every little inch of performance I can get into the gun. And if the end it doesn't work I’m sure I’ll have fun building it! I just to make sure the action or lugs won’t let go on the first shot.
Big thanks for all the info guys
