Am interested in Maxfire speedloaders. Rubber, and you are supposed to just pull the base outwards and away from the revolver to detach the rounds.

Any of you guys who have had experience with them, what is your feedback please ?

I personally do not like them...Try looking on Ebay for Dade loaders...there is a guy there that bought out the old parts inventory and is making them up and selling them

I have had experience with one for a .357 6 shot... it's horrible. All it's really good for is keeping 6 rounds together, you might as well use tape.

Speedloaders

I've tried everything for my wheelgun (3" M-66) in terms of reloading devices over the years from cartridge loops to dump pouches, speed strips, and a gaggle of different speedloaders. What I say below is just one guy's comments...

The Maxfire were not especially useful or effective. You sort of twist the ring like knob at the end to load the bullets. It felt awkward to me. Then again, I am not fond of the HKS variety of knob twisters once seated species of speedloader either.

The old Dade speedloaders are nice enough -- but they will spill rounds if you drop them. The Safariland Comp I is ideal for CCW use. The Comp II is also a winner -- it has a bigger knob for easier push release and loading. They engage on the cylinder star for release. I've never had a Comp I or II drop rounds. Safariland only makes speedloaders in the 5 or 6-shot flavor.

You might consider speed strips if you are really concerned with a slight bulge in a pocket from a speedloader. My expereince has been that nobody notices the Comp I in my left front pocket with my keys. Nobody has noticed the 2 loaders that are in my sports coat pocket opposing my cell phone either. I also have used some nice speedloader pouches that position the loaders either split astride the belt (DeSantis A35, Hume Second Six, or Del Fatti SLC) or horizontally over the belt (Cunningham Leather), where it melts into my paunch. I am unimpressed with the simply pouches that place the entire bulk of the loader in front of the belt.

Hope this was helpful.

I got a couple for .44 mag . big disappointment to be honest. Ammo storage yes ... speedloader .. NOPE!!

I loved the old Dades for my N frame M27 .. these days ... Safariland Comp 1 or 3 seem best.

I have them and they are the best I have found for my 5 shot Taurus 415, 41mag. Of course they are the only speedloader I have found for this gun. They are far from perfect, but better IMO than loose shells carried in the pocket. Living in Illinois I must carry in a fanny pack UNLOADED and after walking around for a while you don't know how many rounds are still held in the loader and how many are laying in the bottom of the pack. If anyone knows of another speedloader or speedstrips for this gun let me know, untill then they are my only option. Jim.

Bought some from Dillon and am not impressed. You have to hold it just right to be able to pull it off the cylinder just right. So if you don't get the grip just right when you pick it up/ take it out of pocket, it is awkward. And I am not sure of how to carry it without it shedding cartridges.

There's also concern that the "pull to release" setup could stress the crane. That sort of "twist" to the crane is NOT a type of stress it was designed to deal with well. This is why "snapping" a revolver shut is also a bad idea - the stress direction is similar to the Maxfires.
