May I board an airplane with my E2D DEFENDER SURFIRE??

I now make it a habit to travel with a pocket full of quarters (oh, about $10 worth) and misc bills, and put an extra pair of cotton/sport socks in the outside pocket of my carry-on. Not much, but "plausible deniability". And when you get to your destination, just put the coins in the sock...

At the very least, you've got a pocket of throwing coins. Ever been hit by a thrown quarter, even through clothes? It stings and leaves a nice welt!

I have a buddy who was questioned by the TSA about the bezel on his Surefire. He told them it was a fish scaler. The TSA guy thought it was a cool idea. They let him on the plane with it.

My carryon contains...

two medium sized linked together padlocks inside a pair of tube socks........and some nylon tywraps.....chris3

If the TSA believed the fish scaler deal, boy are we in trouble. I couldnt say that with a straight face....

Well, I decided not to carry it onbaord. Security was extremely high at Skyharbor. I got padded down because I had 3 pennies in my pocket we couldnt find, felt like a criminal in front of everyone as I was thouroughly searched. One on looker even complained to the TSA about my search. They were courteous and asked if I wanted to be searched in a private place. I didnt really care and told them to go ahead and do their job.

I did feel a little better carrying my strike bezel flashlight around the dark walkways in Mexico. One drunk idiot did confront me yelling stuff at my wife, I went straight at him to let him have it until my wife was dragging at my shirt tail and I came to my senses. I didnt even remember I had my surefire in my pocket. Its funny though, had I been armed with my sidearm I would have completely avoided the situation. Guess it is true, an armed society is a polite society.

I've been travelling with a Chinese copy of a Surefire with a "crenelated" bezel, as they call it. I didn't want to risk having an expensive flashlight confiscated. I started doing that two years ago and haven't had a problem yet after about 50 flights. IF I get asked about the bezel I will show them how it helps you to prevent leaving the flashlight on when it is standing up, as light shines out of the little cutout areas. That is what the manufacturer says it is for! ;)

the last two posts here: its just so damn sad.....
I just want more freedom in America....so damn sad people have to sneak and lie
just to have a flashlight!! to protect themselves.
God this is sad......land of the free....

Be careful with that flashlight of mass destruction.

I once had TSA confiscate a steel Perrier swizzle stick, and that was before 9/11.

Back then, it wasn't the TSA (Founded 11/19/2001), it was airport security. Everyone's "rules" were different. A pocketknife you could take through Phoenix would get taken at Atlanta, etc.

Imagine what you could make with two mini-maglites and 20 centimeters of 5mm nylon cord.

As the USMC teaches, "Your primary weapon is your mind!"

Indeed it is, I just now thought of this use for common items.
Right this instant!
