He is lobbying against a recently passed clarification of the concealed handgun act that woud prevent routine posting of public property against chl. Most of the examples he gave could still be posted under standing sections of the act:
1. city hall - under government meetings;
2. Police Stations- most are off limits due to holding prisoners;
3 conventon centers- Anti CHL signs have already cost them NRA and SHOT meetings.

Texans and those holding reciprocal licenses who carry in texas should write in support of Senate Bill 501. The bill has passed both houses of the legislature and the lobby effort by leftist news papers and city governments seeks a veto by the governor

Lee Brown is the worst. I lived in Houston when he was Chief of Police, which I think was after he was Chief Of Ploice of Atlanta, and before that I think CoP in NYC (IIRC). He's a guy who has done a remarkable job of building a world class resume, while achieving very little where ever he's gone. He's a classic example of the cop turned politician. As far as I remember, Houston police morale hit some new lows under his watch. When he was elected Mayor of Houston I could only think the person he ran aginst must have really been weak. geegee

Lee Brown is a first-class idiot.

Earlier as drug czar under President Clinton, he gave many a speech about how we're winning the war on drugs and how we just need to keep locking 'em up. Now it appears he wants to apply the same police-state tactics to those of us who act as if self-defense were a human right. I've seen him speak live and up close. He struck me as a strongly totalitarian bureaucrat who would gladly click his heels together and carry out any unconstitutional order that D.C. sent him. Were it up to him, there's not a doubt in my mind he would just as soon criminalize the civilian possession of all firearms.

He was da commish in nyc for awhile. He didn`t lower morale much as he was never there.:D That`s why he was known as out of town brown. :neener:

Lee Browns Election Slogan:
One City, Lee Brown.

My Slogan:
One City Broke Under Lee Brown.

I've seen a lot of his crap through the years. He is sucking the city dry.

He can run again after 1 term off.

Yep, watch out for that trick. We had a Democrat governor here in Lousy-ana that served four terms with the "skip one" trick. Sad part is that the idiots in this state kept voting for him.

Luckily he's now serving a ten-year sentence in federal prison.

I'd be surprised to see that happen-not his MO. More than likely he'll be off to his next gig. Somewhere in this country is an organization, a corporation, or a government of some sort, i.e. a city or state, that will be willing to pay up for his finely honed management skills. :rolleyes: :barf: geegee

Called and e-mailed the governor and told him I supported the bill. They were very polite and thanked me for the information.

They said the gov. was getting quite a few calls about this. Everyone needs to call.

Is this the same guy Lee P. Brown [Leapy Brown] that was the Houston Pief of Cholice in the '80's under Mayor Kathryn "Toosie" Whitmire ? ? ?

If so, I can understand why the folks of Houston are Howling Mad about this guy.

That's the ticket, Sensei! When i started this thread, I didn't realize what a wingding his excellency Brown was. It's been highly entertaining. I'm sure Governor Perry is aware of his qualities and the brown lobbying effort will only help in its eventual enactment.

foghorn

Yeah, that`s him. The guy has made incompetance an art form. But he`s educated, don`t you know.:barf:

It's Leapy alright. the link to the article just showed up on www.tsra.com. Houston City Hall has been turned into a Fort to keep disgruntled citizens at bay. The government people inteviewed are definately afraid of the citizenry.

Sounds like something out of the early days of the Republic (US, Not Texas). The ideal situation where the government fears the people rather than vice-versa. Of course, they never said it would be ideal if the people not only didn't fear the government but held it in complete contempt.
