A recent acquisition is an early Colt New Service in 45 Colt. Chamber is .454, but the cylinder throats are .456. After -emailing with Brad at MBC I purchased his .455 Eley bullets, unsized. Also picked up a Lee sizer for .457 dia. They do not offer aany sizers in .the .455-.456 diameter.
Running 50 bullets through the sizer produced 9 at .457, 9 at .455, but not round. 32 were .456, which were acceptable. Those at .455 were subjected to 3 strikes of an 8 oz. hammer, which then sized to .457 dia. Next I sized brass and used a .454 RCBS Cowboy expander to determine the heaviest crimp. The results are shown below.
