MD folks: anybody hunt near Ft. Meade?

My girlfriend and I rode the bike trails at the Patuxent Wildlife Preserve near Ft. Meade the other day and when checking in, noticed that they allow deer and turkey hunting. Has anyone hunted there? If so, what was it like? I didn't know there were wild turkey's anywhere around here

I've hunted on acreage that I believe was subsequently sold by the USGOV a few years back. You may still be able to hunt on Meade, but you'll need to take a safety test to do so. There were also additional weapons rules on hunting the fort. Ask around at the Meade Rod & Gun Club (if it still exists).
FWIW, I never saw a turkey there. When I was a resident of the not so free state, I mostly hunted turkey around the reservoirs or out west at Green Ridge SF or Dan's Mountain WMA.
