Hello y'all!
I have had three of these 8rd Match mags from Mec-Gar for my Springfield mil-spec 45 Auto 1911 for a little bit and have had random issues with the baseplates coming off randomly for no reason. So I narrowed it down to just two of them are having this issue and the 3rd one is rock solid reliable just like my dozen other standard Mec-Gar 8rd mags.

So after figuring all this out I have been in contact with Mec-Gar via email and they are sending me two mag gut kits!! We'll see if that fixes the issue. Will update once I test the new kits.

When they bother to make them. I ordered some for my 9mm Luger about a year ago and was notified yesterday they’re finally available.

So any progress as to WHY the bottoms keep falling out of the mags ?. I've got oodles of stock GI and Wilson ,Never had any issues like that .

I did have a couple of older Colt AR mags that suffered from lazy spring and bad follower . I changed them out for the replacement followers and springs ,probably 25 years ago and they're still working as of a couple of weeks ago .
I just popped out one of My Colt .45 mags and took out the spare also , I CAN'T force another round into the magazine hard enough to even move the floor plate . So I'm most curious as to what Mec Gar has to say ??.

Yeah it's a very odd thing as the third mag works flawlessly. Just the two give me trouble... It's almost like they have something not quite right with the baseplate system or something. I'll update y'all when I get the new kits.

If you need a mag for a Beretta 92, CZ75, or SIG P226, you bet. A 1911, maybe not.
What's weird is Mec-Gar makes Springfield 1911 mags so idk what to think about that. They say made in Italy and have identical markings to each other. I have a couple Springfield mags I got when I got my 1911 and the rest are just Mec-Gar.

That would surprise me. I would have thought CheckMate was the current supplier of Springfield mags. I believe prior to that, it was Metalform. I'm not sure if Mec-Gar is the original equipment mag for any 1911 maker, certainly at least not US made 1911's.

Ok got the mag gut kits and they actually sent 3 kits and I'm glad they did cause the third one actually was having the same issue but not quite as bad. So in the instructions for the kits they say when you put the extended baseplate in your should hear a click and they never did that with the old ones.
Needless to say they go together properly as the instructions specify.

I've had great performance using 15 and 17 round Mec-Gar mags in my S&W 915. They're equal in quality to my original factory S&W mags. I've never had to interact with their customer service, but it's nice to see how responsive they were in your case.

Ok sorry about the late update y'all... So I tested the new mag guts and the same thing happened so Mec-Gar is sending me the standard baseplate kits for the mags so they will have the positive retention like the rest of the mags.

Ok got the new standard baseplates and they seem to actually be the same as the other Mec-Gar mags I already had. We'll see if these work out this time.
