Mech Tech 1911 .45 carbine reviews?

Mech Tech sells a carbine conversion matched to 1911 45acp's for about $350 that look awful cool, but how do they perform? Anyone have a 1911 converted to carbine? Any suggestions as to which model works best or how the conversion performs? [also posted on 'Handguns: autoloaders']

I have two of them -- one in .45 and one in 10mm.
The .45 is set up for my Para-Ordnance frame and has the factory rail/iron sights --- the 10mm is set up with a Tasco Red Dot.
Both of the MT units work GREAT !!!! You need to run the units a little "hot" --- my Bullseye loads in .45 , 185gr. SWC at 700fps doesn't cycle 100% -- but my 200gr. SWCs at 900fps. run 99.9%.
Look at EBAY or other online sites --- I got both my used for less then $300.
