i'm considering purchasing a Taurus 431. My 1st handun was a Rossi 720 in 44 special and i may still consider getting another one of those(sadly let it go years ago for a glock), but for something slightly different, i may get the 431, 44 special . .i almost bought an HK P7 or kahr due to my short trigger finger and the really fine fit of those guns to my hand . . .the rossi fit well too and i hear that the taurus 431 will fit according to a trigger reach measurement that the seller of the 431 did for me (2.75 inches according to his report) . . .if i get the taurus, i want some cosmetics done , . .bead blast and melt, chamber bevel at the face and nice deep red (cocobolo?) grips . . .no action work/altering. . .all the pistolsmith sites list S&W as well as Ruger double action revolvers as guns the work on . . .anybody should be able to do the work i want right? . .who should i seee about this? . .also, i believe the taurus has a square but and is similar in size to the K frame smiths. who makes aftermarket grips for em? . .thanks

From one Duck to another ;) may I suggest you wait to see if you like the gun "as is" before dumping a lot of money into it?

If you decide you don't like the gun you might find junk Bonds tend to have a better return on investment than a customized pistol. Ask me how I know this :(

You will have to e-mail various shops to see if they work on Taurus guns or not, I once E-mailed Beretta 92 guru Ernie Langdon to work on a Taurus for me (almost exact same gun) said he could not do it as his insurance only covered Berreta and Sig guns. I would have never thought of that.

Sorry not much help but best of luck!

Only you can decide if it's worth spending the money to have it worked on. If you really like the gun then a few modifications can turn a nice gun into a very nice gun. I bought a Taurus 606 2 in ported 357. I really liked the gun so i deceided to have a little work done on it. I had an action job done on it ,bobbed the hammer and converted to DA only. What a diffrence. Now i love it.

it is sweet . .no ports for me though . .and i really want a more drastic melt, not just bead blasting . . pistolsmith dave berryhill has replied to my post elsewhere and said he can help me out

I had a Taurus 431 right after they came out and was going to turn it into my first custom gun. I shot it a couple times and it was accurate enough so I sent it off to be Mag-Na-Ported which was a pretty neat change, although I don't know if I'd do it again. Taurus put out an ad that they were doing trigger jobs so I sent it off to them for the works. Came back with a real nice trigger pull unfortunately it wouldn't ignite any primers :fire: Sent it back to them again and when it came back it would ignite primers, but the trigger pull was back to original spec (lousy). :banghead:

At that point I gave up on the gun and Taurus. Traded off the 431 and never bought another Taurus.
