For those who may be living under a rock.

From the article:

When a police officer, who has been described as traumatized by the incident, arrives on scene, he is seemingly casually getting out of his patrol car until he notices what is going on. The officer almost immediately draws his gun. The cop ordered Eugene to stop the attack, but Eugene ignored his command and even growled back at the officer. It's unclear when the officer fired because the video is obstructed by a metro commuter train line, but it eventually took four bullets to make Eugene stop his brutal assault.

Earlier articles had reported that the responding officer initially fired only once, and the assailant didn't even seem to notice that he'd been shot. Said articles then reported that the responding officer fired four additional shots to stop the assailant.

I'm not speculating on what caused the assailant to do this, or on the responding officer's actions.

I'm curious if any Florida or Miami High Roaders have any info on the standard carry/issue firearms for the Miami PD, caliber, loads, bullet type, etc. Or if you have any specific info on what this officer may have been carrying/using.

We all know that shot placement is more crucial than caliber, but I'm still curious about what hardware and ammunition was used in this incident.

I will personally give the responding officer props for making not only one, but several tough shots, as the assailant was reported to be directly on top of the victim.

Mods, please move if you feel this isn't a "Strategies, Tactics, Training" topic (I thought it might also be appropriate for "Handguns: Autoloaders"), or close if you think it's "too soon."

Thanks,
