In a new public service announcement, actor Michael Douglas, a United Nations Messenger of Peace, spotlights the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons and promotes an upcoming UN conference aimed at addressing the problem.

The UN Conference to Review Progress Made in the Implementation of the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons will be held in New York from 26 June to 7 July.

"The Conference is an opportunity for UN Member States to build on the Programme of Action and to encourage countries to strengthen their laws on the illicit trade," says Mr. Douglas of the plan unanimously adopted by Member States in 2001 to combat illegal small arms and ensure that they are kept out of the wrong hands.

Part of a UN public information campaign, the announcement calls attention to the dangers posed by the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons, including their humanitarian and social impact on children and the civilian population in general.

Award-winning actor and producer Michael Douglas was appointed a Messenger of Peace by Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 1998. As a Messenger of Peace, he has focused his advocacy on disarmament, including nuclear non-proliferation and stemming the spread of small arms, as well as on human rights.

"...Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons..." The Third World Debating Club is pretending they want to curtail the international sales of small arms. As long as it doesn't interfer with the assorted dictatorship's that are part of the Third World Debating Club internal power struggles.
The Debating Club can't make laws for any country. They can't take your firearms or anybody else's.
"...actor Michael Douglas..." Most of the world's population doesn't know who he is. Never mind care what he says or does.
 
He's a pin head actor, born into it, made a fortune portraying violent charachters of one form or another, but never forget he's from an enlightened special group who knows they are better then us.:barf:
 
It is still amazing that people don't get it. Find the head, cut it off, problem solved. Why do people continue to blame gun when in all actuality it is the criminal. Start at the core of the problem, and all other things, like illegal gun use, goes away!

I find these hollywierd actors more and more annoying. Just because someone is famous doesn't mean they have an IQ over 50. They recite things someone else has written. They use their fame as a podium to coerce the sheeple.

It is really aggravating to read the nonsense spewed out by the Douglases, Baldwins and many others in "make believe land" but the sad thing is that so many of our duly elected representatives in both Congress and the Senate share these people's views. Hell, some even came from out "there". Most of these people, actors or polititions have never had an original thought on anything but they "know what's best" for the rest of us common folks.:cuss:

Well ... when it comes to safeguarding his own b-hind, Douglas is all in favor of guns because his security is important. And he does this all the while preaching that guns don't make anyone safer. Yeah, right.:mad:

Neither one has a grasp on reality, are self intrest persuing entities. The UN nor Douglas CARE about anything except power and making a name for themselves. The UN has proven it's worthlessness over and over since it's inception and anyone who collaberates with them is just as worthless (not excluding any of our politicians who deserve this distinction as well). "We The People" needs to be a world wide movement to put ALL governments in their place.
 
Just thinking out loud...

Instead of Attending a Michael Douglas Movie, renting one, or any of the Actors that are used by Tyranny...

1) Go purchase Quigley Down Under, The Sacketts, or some movie with a RKBA representitive and save the reciept.

2)Buy a copy of Innocent's Betrayed save reciept

3) Instead of buying a Book written by one against us, Buy Ruark's classic The Old Man and The Boy, works by Ayn Rand, Heinlein, how about Rebel Fire Zelman-Wolfe...

4) Posters, clothes, coffee mugs, mouse pads...you name it. Instead of buying something where monies go for Tyranny...
Well for example Oleg sells posters, Photos, and we have others that sell RKBA items.

Support our own and then we need to send in the reciepts, or show Monies spent to Preserve Freedom and Fight Tryanny. Perhaps a Web-site(s) , show a Running tab on some blogs...

Yes, we must know our enemy, those centered and grounded can view and read, write reviews, and do so that will Attract Fences. Not bash, not trash, just present a review, with cites if need so a reader can research for themselves. These fence sitters will see the difference in truth and lies, lies using skewed data.

Kids, I have a soft spot for kids, adults are to parent, and pass forward. Kids get caught with teachers stating for instance "Bambi is good, hunters are bad, so guns must be bad". Turn off the TV, spend time with kids and be parents, be adults. Know what is going on in school.

Then snuggle up with kids and The Old Man and the Boy by Ruark . A lot of life's lessons in that book, lessons about Respect, Ethics, and Integrity. These and other lessons interwoven in hunting and guns.

Then let the Website, Blog know you spent the $16 for the book instead of spending money on a work promoting Tyranny. Let the Website / Blog know you spent money on a brick of .22 ammo - and even better if the kids add "I'd rather go shoot my .22 rifle than watch a stupid movie telling me my .22 rifle Grandpa got me is bad..."


Tyranny wants Freedom Folks wasting valuable time, fussing amongst selves, and giving Tyranny attention - wastes Freedom Resources.




The Reality is - always going to be a Opposing Sides , Hypocrites, Manipulators, and North ends of South facing mules.

Folks can use the Internet to cite documents to Attract Folks to their way of thinking - Some skew facts, some present honest documentations and those not sure which side to believe - can look it up.
We have members on this board that were once fence sitters.

For example both Michael Douglas , and Tom Selleck, have both been used to represent something, and attract folks.

It would be interesting to see how much monies are spent by Freedom Folks, from books to guns, to ammo, to training classes, hunting trips...everything.

Post these monies for Public Viewing, with a running total - Monies that did NOT go for Douglas, UN or Tyranny.

I hardly see movies any more/ annoying "starz"

I hate the extremely poor gun handling portrayed in 99% of hwood cinema.
plus they're a bunch of annoying crybabies.
I aint gonna see that Stephen Hunter movie either because that brat marky mark will play the lead, what was they thinking?

as an aside, wouldn't most SOT's and gun wrangler/prop guys involved in furnishing weapons to movies be enthusiasts and pro RKBA. I sure wouldn't help any Hollywood hypocrite elitist gun-grabbers or the companies that hire them.

I don't know what "SOT" means, but in answer to the question, NO, Calif. Police Depts do NOT buy Class III weapons and hand them out to the film companies.

That stuff is always rented from a firearms rental company with a Class III license. Stembridge was one of the long time biggest, best gun rental companies in Holllywood, renting to the studios, etc.

When I lived in L.A., I used to shoot with Larry Merrill, manager of Stembridge, at our gun club. Very, very pro-2nd Amend.

Celebrities live in mortal fear of being off'd. Naturally, most of them are going to be "anti-gun" and pro-gun control--even if they secretly own guns themselves or have armed bodyguards. The perspective of a celebrity is not that of the average citizen.
