MICHIGAN: Mandatory Storage Bill Proposed! Senate Bill 268, introduced by State Senator Martha Scott (D-2), would undermine a citizen's right to self-defense by imposing onerous storage requirements on Michigan gun owners, rendering firearms useless in self-defense situations. SB 268 requires households with children to store their guns in locked boxes with trigger locks installed. Violations would be punishable as a misdemeanor offense if a juvenile gains access to the firearm. The bill has been assigned to the Senate Judiciary Committee but has not been scheduled for a hearing. Please contact the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and let them know this bill is not only unnecessary, it is dangerous. Contact information can be found here.

all the more reason for me to move to texas besides our high unemployment rate. Michigan is starting to lean way to much towards illioness legislation. Tired of dealing with this socialist republic of michigan.

That's why I moved to Alabama. I don't need anyone telling me when I can buy a gun and keeping it on a list. I sure don't want to have to take it to them to handle before i get to shoot it either. Dems have ruined my home state and the cancer is spreading.

Note my message to our legislators.

Senators,

As a former police officer and retired businessman who has owned and handled firearms most of my life, I hope you will see the wisdom in killing S-268. This bill is just one more ill conceived law by a busy body legislator that has more time on her hands than brains. It does not deserve to see the light of day.

I regret my choice of words in the 2nd to last sentence in the paragraph above. I tried to be more polite, but the longer I thought about what Ms. Scott is trying to do, I discovered that my comments were about as polite a response to her machination.

Just think about what a dangerous place the Michigan Legislature would become if your legislative veto pens were locked up the way she wants to lock up our personal firearms. Think about how much drivel would get passed into law if you had to hustle to find your pen safe, find the key or remember the combination in a stressfull situation, open the safe and assemble the ink cartridge to the pen body, put it back together and then try and save the people from another act of insanity.

Cordially,
grampster

Grampster, you are the man. I hope you actually sent that. Sums it up nicely.

Oh, I sent it alright. The above is a cut and paste from my e-mail. Not a peep from any of the Senators as yet. I will report back.

Geno, you gonna tell Barbara what I did??:D:D

I can still read. And I laughed, too. :)

I wouldn't sweat this bill. Every session, it gets introduced. Every session, it dies a lonely death without a hearing. Worth keeping an eye on, just in case it decides to get legs, but its not anything out of the ordinary.
