Hi, all. I posted occasionally on TFL and just wandered back here recently and been reading some posts. I didn't see anything on this, so if anyone from Michigan or even Ohio or Indiana is interested, we need as much support as we can get.

(Columbus) – Michigan sportsmen will soon flood the halls of the State Capitol to demonstrate their political strength and support for a bill that would make Michigan the 40th state to allow mourning dove hunting.
The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance and its partners in the Michigan Hunting Rights Campaign expect over 1,000 sportsmen to rally in Lansing on November 4 to back House Bill 5029. The bill, introduced by Rep. Susan Tabor, R-Delta Township, will permit dove hunting. The rally will take place at the State Capitol’s main entrance steps at 9:00 AM. Sportsmen will then be taken to meet with their legislators as a demonstration of their support for HB 5029.
“Michigan wildlife biologists say that the state has enough doves to support a hunting season and Michigan sportsmen want to have one,†said U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Senior Vice President Rick Story. “The sportsmen who have united for this effort – the turkey hunters, bowhunters, trappers, houndsmen and others – must get to Lansing on November 4 to prove to the state’s law makers that they are serious about protecting and advancing their rights.â€
Several conservation leaders are scheduled to speak at the rally. They include rock and roll legend and avid sportsman Ted Nugent, National Rifle Association President Kayne Robinson, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Senior Vice President Rick Story and the National Wild Turkey Federation’s (NWTF) CEO Rob Keck. House Bill 5029 sponsor, Rep. Tabor, and other legislative leaders are expected to speak as well.

) who hasn't already done it to contact their senator and ask them to pass this. We need to hammer them. It's going to be a close vote and I was told by one Rep. yesterday that he didn't think it would make it through the Senate. We need to keep legislative momentum going in Michigan on firearms/hunting issues.
