Hello All
I am looking to obtain a "safety inspection" of a handgun in Michigan. My brother-in-law passed away and his wife wants to give the handgun to me. My sister-in-law and I live in the same state.
I have looked though the threads here and have learned that according to federal law I do not need to complete paperwork of this transaction. But also need to apply by any state or local laws.
In Michigan you need a "permit to purchase" a handgun which is issued by your city or county. Unless you have a ccw, which I do. Since I'm not "purchasing" this, what am I going to have to show the city in order to complete the "safety inspection" process?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. This was my brother-in-laws hunting pistol and there a lot of whitetail memories in there.
