Michigan: Husbands, wifes and "safety inspection" of pistols.

They do not charge for this "inspection" and yes it's really registration not safety inspection.

Yes they do -- or at least they do in Kent county. $5 per purchase permit or pistol registered. The city of Wyoming also did that to me when I got a couple of permits while living there.

Hmmmm

I have never been charged and I'm almost sure I read that they could no longer charge a fee. I can't find it at the moment written anywhere so I could be wrong on that.

Hate to tell you, but I'm not imaginging the charges. I could swear Wyoming did it to me too but that was years ago.

The Kent County Sheriff's department (both downtown Grand Rapids and the sub-station at 84th and Kalamazoo in SE GR are charging. I went in Tuesday and grabbed two of them: $10 bucks. If you purchase with a CCW (no permit at purchase time) you STILL have to pay them $5 for their trouble. It's posted right on the front doors and at the counter 'round here.

I tried paying with a $50 the last time and was informed that they couldn't make change for it. I had 9 other dollars on me so I had to dig around in my car for change to pay the whole $10. Frustrating.

If you are getting charged your gettign hosed the state of michigan said they could no longer charge.. only thin they can charge you for is if you need it nortized

They don't have to charge you, but they still can, and do.
I bought at least a gun a month in the last year and prolly 11 out of 12 times, I was charged...

I live in wayne county and is know as the worst for anything like this i bought 3 hand guns last year right in a row and they have a think that says they can no longer charge for purchase permits ..but that they will charge 5$ if you have to have the permit notorized
