Microgroove Barrel with Coated Lead bullets?

The microgroove barrel will likely do better with the 311 bullets, but o be sure you should slug your bore and determine the actual groove diameter you have to deal with

It is going to be more of an issue with diameter than anything else. If they are sized at least .001 larger than the bore diameter.

There is a lot of information out there stating that lead doesn't shoot well out of micro-groove barrels but IMO, if you size them properly, it doesn't matter much.

Another thing to realize is that coated bullets won't lead at high velocities but they won't necessarily be more accurate than non-coated bullets if you push them too hard. Whatever load is accurate with non-coated bullets will usually be accurate with the same bullet when it is coated.

Greetings
Have had several through my life and all shot better with a fat bullet. Ewlyon's advice of a .311 is a good place to start. That microgroove needs a very tight grip on lead. Lead is soft compared to brass jackets. Had at least one 336 30-30 that shot a .312 best.
