I'm looking for an over and under for shooting skeet that doesn't carry a price tag of $2500 or better. It can just be a plain jane model but reliable. Any suggestions????

Beretta White Onyx Sporter. Lasts forever, same action as the higher end guns, out the door for under $1700. Keeps value vetter than lower end stuff.

Browning Citori Lightning. Mine are 15-20 years old and still look, function like new. They are not safe queens.

Good shooting and be safe.

Ruger red labels are very nice (have 2 that were my dad's that we both used for hunting and skeet MANY times, for MANY years), and can be had for around $900 almost NIB, if you can find one that is.(I've only personally seen 2 for sale in person).Great guns though.Reliable and well balanced.

here's mine:

It's hard to beat a Browning Citori. For a casual shooter it will last a lifetime. Perhaps several lifetimes.

SKB! well under valued and an excellent shotgun that will last your lifetime.

Once you fall for the game of skeet, you will want to try a hand at some competition. Then maybe , you will need more than just a 12 gauge( + give your shoulder a rest). Suggest a good Used Citori or Browning ( you can tube it later). For 2500 you can find a good Used browning, Beretta, Skb already tubed + a nice shiny heavy duty case. In time you might discover the finer things in life. Mainly a 28 gauge.Hang around gun clubs, most all will help. Good Luck

Food for thought.

Try to find a good used Browning/Beretta and save alot of money. For example, a new Browning 525 is in that $2500 range. I "see" Browning 425's, previous models, used in the $1500-$1800 + area. Just an example, it varies of course.

I'd also consider a "sporting model" which will be great for skeet and more useful for all other sports.

Dave's White Onyx suggestion is a very good one. As alrady mentioned, don't overlook the used Browning and Beretta market either. This past summer I saw 2 (used) Browning Ultra XS guns complete with Briley sub-gauge tube sets and Americase go for under $2300 each. I regulary see decent-to-very-nice used Citoris in the $900-$1200 range. I don't pay as much attention to the Berettas, but I see them offered used a lot as well.

What the others have said. A Browning Citori or Beretta 68X model. Choose the model by which one "fits" you better. Either brand will last longer than you, and can be found used all day long. I have a Citori XT, because that was the Browning that fit me (parallel comb). Good luck. Also might suggest looking into reloading to keep ammo costs down. Love my MEC 9000
