Anyone know what the typical travel time for a package from MidwayUSA (MO) to California via USPS 1st Class?

I'm on day 5 of shipping and still haven't received anything, which is strange because I ordered something from Hilton Yam (in FL) using 1st Class and received it Wednesday.

I meant to use Priority but submitted the order before checking. :banghead::banghead:

I have used ebay to order cds and stuff, the sellers say first class, I get it and it says first class. But it took 9 days once and that was first class!

Shipping is weird, I get priority in 3-4 days or sometimes 7-10 days.... First class soon as 2 days and sometimes up to 4-6 days..

I'm almost positive Midway would not have sent it w/out delivery confirmation. I use Brownells 1st class mail shipping frequently and that is their modus operandi. Everytime I get the tracking number. Call Midway and get the DC number. Whenever it's been misrouted, USPS inspectors get on it pronto. Despite the fact that it's no multimillion dollar shipment.

I sent something from FL to NV via parcel post - was SUPPOSED to arrive in time a week later didn't happen - it was a day late (tell that to the kid waiting on a b'day gift). However, letters made it in 3 days. Are you counting 5 day business days, or calendar days?

Shipped Monday this week at 5 a.m., so today would be the 5th business day.

I'll shoot Midway an email and ask for the delivery confirmation number.

USPS is a tad inconsistent I've learned, I just received something via USPS 1st Class Mail (after my initial post) from Deland, FL that was postmarked yesterday. So FL to CA was one day, essentially making that piece of mail equivalent to Express Mail. Strange.

i just got an order form midway today, actually. usually i opt for the cheapest shipping option witch takes about a week, but this time i went the next step up and wnet with 1 class, and got it in 3 days. i'm about the same distance from midway as you are (maybe a little closer). so 3-4 days tops. :)

NiteQwill, I have used MidwayUSA's USPS delivery option several times. Like you, I started getting worried after 5th day, but my packages showed up usually around 6-7 days (excluding Sundays). You should receive your shipment in a day or two (Saturday or Monday).

You can call MidwayUSA, but they have no way of knowing when USPS will deliver the shipment - They can only verify that the shipment was sent out.

Regular USPS deliveries vary, but I found their priority mail (shipping envelopes and flat rate boxes) are very consistent at 2-3 days.

Thanks guys, I figured it will probably show up tomorrow or Monday. I'll wait until then to give MidwayUSA a call.

Lesson learned: spend the extra 0.40 and get Priority Mail! :)

I am mad at midways shipping policy.

I ordered a Lee Challenger Anniv Reloading kit. During the ordering process there is a block you can check saying whether you want a catalog or not. I checked it. Turns out the Relaoding kit was on backorder. No big deal, I can wait.

What PO'd me was they sent the catalog ALONE and charged me shipping for it. Then sent the press when it came in and they AGAIN charged me shipping.

I called their customer service, and asked about this, they said it was their policy to ship any items in stock as soon as the order was placed. I told them I could have done with out the catalog as if this was their ploicy, I wouldnt be ordering from themn any more.

Large inventory, but poor customer relations. They lost me for life over this.

I used to receive shipments in two days via UPS ground or USPS. Over the past year or so, I've all but stopped using them. Seems they like to price items over MSRP and occasionally mark them down to a "sale" price.

When I emailed asking about this (provided an example), I received a response thanking me for my feedback and business. They are too many alternative sources to fool around with this crap.

My wife is an ex postal worker and most of her co-workers feel if it's something important and not to be lost, DON'T ever use USPS. FedEx or UPS only...!!!

you know, it's funny that you mention that. last time ordered vz grips, they mentioned that the post office had been losing some of their shipments lately....and they're located in FL, like you, Voodoo.

I guess I lucked up, but it took three days to travel the 200 miles from Tallahasse.

Didn't arrive today. Looks like Midway will be receiving a call from me Monday. 6 shipping days seems a bit odd for such a small package and location-to-location.

^^^that's normal. same for me--if i pick the cheapest shipping option, midway takes a week. which is longer than it should, i think they ship out the higher cost shipping orders first, and put the 1st class USPS at the end of the line.....

I had an order "lost" by UPS. the sender got the correct address and all the rest but transposed the last 2 digits of the zip. They took my name and the wrong zip found a victim that matched and shipped to that address. When the parcel was traced the guy said *** I don't even reload. I got it 3 weeks late.:banghead: At least the sender used delivery confirmation and we tracked it.

FWIW, whenever Midway ships USPS to me in Calif., I get it faster that when they go UPS. Last order got to me two days after the shipping notice. Problem is, they will only ship small orders, and nothing in glass, via USPS. Shipping jumped $8 when I added a small bottle of Butch's Bore Shine, so I skipped it.

I "hate" that usps tracking info i get after an order,,,says order shipped on mon., in transit....nothin more wed, thur, fri, BOOM!!! Sat. it is at the house. nothin between we shipped it and it arrives.

i know! sometimes USPS tracking numbers will get you the info right away, but 99% of the time the tracking info only becomes available the day your package arrives!

no wonder the post office is in such financial peril at the moment....

I've actually had better luck using USPS than I have UPS. I prefer Fed Ex first then USPS and if I have to UPS. UPS boxes always seem to be crushed and late and my last job quit using them completely and switched to FedEx and all of a sudden packages quit getting lost and damaged lol.

Whenever possible I go with the USPS Priority shipping, it generally costs only a little more than First Class but is guaranteed 2-3 business day delivery. Better still are the Priority Mail Flat-Rate boxes, whatever you can fit in the box (as long as it's legal to mail) will ship for a fixed price regardless of weight.
