A new, comparably sized plastic box for ammo is $15 at Cabelas and a surplus steel ammo can is $4.99 at the army surplus store. So looks to me like someone wanted to sell plastic ammo containers for a bigger profit.
oh yea, and ammo cans are great, if you are concerned then toss in a couple of silica gel packets and put a fresh coating of blue gasket maker on it before you use it.
GhostlyKarliion,
My eyes were huge when I first saw all of that brass for sale. I fantasized about having a garage full of brass. That is until the last day of the auction the brass bidding turns into a feeding frenzy and that 47,000 lbs of brass will sell for well over 50 grand. Way outa my price range.
I recently read in a catalog advertising cans (so, for what it's worth) that the military was now destroying empty cans. Seems like a waste, but that might lend credence to it!
There was just a surplus auction for a crapload of .50 cans that ended at $3 per. I don't think we need to worry about them not selling those any time soon.
