Got to the local indoor rental range, Military Monday special(no range fees or restrictions for US veterans/active duty service members who make a purchase ).
I fired up about 240 rounds of .45acp in my Glock 21 .45acp generation 04 with Glock/Trijicon 3 dot sights(green).
I had 0 problems or issues with the big 21 .45acp pistol. No misfires, double feeds or jams.
I shot a few rounds of MagSafe SWAT .45acp. It had low recoil but the muzzle blast & noise was loud. I still plan to keep this round as my main home protection load. www.MagsafeOnline.com
I shot about 30 rounds of Hornady Critical Duty. The 220gr +P .45acp shot low(for me) but the recoil & feeding were no problem. If I were a sworn agent or working cop, Id carry Critical Duty or request it for patrol/investigator use. In 9x19mm, .40, .357sig or the big boy; .45acp , the Hornady Critical Duty is a top notch carry or defense load.
I shot a 50rd bag of 230gr FMJ reloaded ammunition. This was my mandated range purchase.
All the brass cycled & worked okay but one .45acp FMJ looked a tad wonky. It seemed to be seated wrong. I fired it directly from the barrel with 0 problems.
I've heard that it's not a good practice with semi auto pistols & I rarely do it.
FWIW; a few spent cases flew up, down & sideways with the generation 04 .45acp but the rental range was a confined space & brass banged off of the walls & tray.
Id like to shoot about 250 rounds of factory rounds outdoors or a more open area before I blame the Glock 21 .45acp for the crazy brass.
Cleaning & service of the Glock 21 .45acp LE trade-in was a breeze. I used a milspec OD toothbrush & some Ballistol's.
Big thanks to Youtube.com gun channel host; Hickok45. His Glock video about basic cleaning & how to maintain a Glock model are worth viewing. For the record, I don't use quite as much Ballistol as he does.
I'm glad the Glock 21 generation 04 did so well & I look forward to years of shooting/carry with this big .45acp pistol.
