I saw a new issue of Glock Autopistols & the cover included the new "long slide" Glock 40 10mm. :D
This looks like a full generation 04 type 10mm semi auto much like the Glock 41 .45acp model. Glock.com should have more information about the new model 40.
I'm not a big 10mm fan but I'm sure Glock will sell many 40 10mm pistols to hunters, target shooters, home defense users & maybe a few cops/armed guards.
If I were a Glock exec or worked at Glock USA, I would not use the 40 #. I'm 100% sure many customers or gun show attendees will say: Can I see a new Glock 40? & the clerk/booth worker will hand them a 22/23 .40S&W.

The G41 slide weighs less than the G21 slide (and the G21 slide is already over an oz lighter than the G20 slide). I wonder how they're getting around that with the longslide 10mm. If they tooled up to make a completely different slide for the G40 to soak up recoil like the G20, then I am definitely interested.

I am not as interested if they are using the same G34/35-sized slide they use on the G41. I would just use a 6" barrel in a G20, if I needed the length for hunting restrictions.

I might still buy one, though. :)

I wonder what happens when they reach M99. Will they go to triple digits or letters? I love the model number though. It makes perfect sense with their other model numbers, and a 10mm IS 40 cal.

The 40 and 41 have gen4 dual recoil springs. Is that the difference that allows a lighter slide, maybe? The 20 is only a gen3 right?

It doesn't matter how many springs you put in there. Lighter slide means faster cycling time. That means the recoil is spread over a shorter time period.

The g41 is 2.7 oz lighter than the g21 and almost 4 oz lighter than the G20

you know darn well thats all they are going to do.

I've been waiting on a long slide 10mm since I ditched my 20. Now here it is....but looking a galleryofguns it's looking like it'll end up being in the high 7's when it finally comes off allocation.
