Have been lurking awhile, and would like some feedback on these 2 for concealed carry--I don't think I need the smallest mouse gun, but these 2 have my attention. Pros/cons? I have heard Taurus is not good on their warranties and have had good results with Ruger, but I am undecided. Thanks for your input.

I own both a Taurus PT111 Mil Pro and a Ruger S9Rc.Both are fine guns.

I like them both and will trust either with my life as both are dependable and reliable in function.

Try both models out and see which meets your needs better . Then pick the one..... or both if you want that meets those needs the best.:)

Here's some links that compare both side by side.

Just for info purposes and viewing.

Just for clarifications sake the actual owner experience/use is what counts. Not anecdotal "evidence" from those who've never owned one or "witty repartee" that adds nothing of substance to the dialogue.

Links from here on the PT111 Mil Pro.

I can bring 140 typed pages of links that show the PT111 Mil Pro works well.

It could also be said the same thing of the Ruger S9Rc from the 2 Ruger gun forums, but why go there?

The PT111 Mil Pro fits me just a bit better than the Ruger does and that is the only reason I use the Mil Pro more than the Ruger.

I have small hands and short fingers is the reason why.
What fits you is what counts.

I'm just the opposite of weregunner; I had a PT-111 Mil-Pro and I didn't like it. I never really felt comfortable with it in my hand (also small sized with short fingers), like it just didn't balance right for me. I think it may have been something to do with the geometry of the grip itself. I eventually sold it but was still looking for something along those lines in a 9mm.

While at the range one day, the guy next to me asked me to try out his new SR9c. He was having trouble keeping it on paper and wanted to see if it was him or the gun. He loaded up 5 rounds and I proceded to put all of them in the black at 30'. I really liked the way the gun felt in my hand; very trim and flat, like an old Colt Pocket Model 1903. It just seemed to have the perfect balance for me. I also liked the way the sights came up quickly on target and were easily aquired.

Shortly after that, I went out and bought one. The trigger on mine is fairly decent, about the same as the one on my well used Glock. I like the texture of the frame material (some sort of reinforced fiberglass), as well as the interchangeable back strap and mag base plate. A well designed and built gun that is pretty much what I had been looking for in a 9mm. for CCW.

I can't approach the value of posts 2 and 3, but I handled an SR9c in a funstore and was very impressed with the size, shape, feel, and trigger pull. I have lots of trigger time with major competitors (M&P9c, XD9sc, G19) and I think the SR9c is a very solid entry in that field. No experience with the Taurus.

I would go with the Ruger, as it's my EDC. Personally I don't care for the Taurus trigger (which I have sampled in several different Mil Pros and the 24/7) yet I find the Ruger's trigger to be very smooth. That's not a flame - that's first-hand experience.

I have shot both, and am absolutely in love with the Ruger SR9c. The trigger is just excellent. It was well balanced for me and I was able to have good, controlled follow-up shots.

+1 Taurus PT111. I love mine. My only complaint is the sights, if your accustomed to normal sights the Hinie's take some getting used to, $50 will get you a set of Williams Firesights which are regular 3 dot sights.

I've handled the SR9C. Nice gun, but it seems a little thicker then the Taurus and "thick" doesn't work on my lanky frame. (I didn't measure them I was going by feel).

I had a first gen pt111 and loved it. Felt great in the hand and had thousands of rounds through it when I sold it to a coworker. He uses it as his daily carry and try as I might (sellers remorse) he wouldnt sell it back to me. So, I replaced it with a new pt145 that is my daily carry. I will say that the third gen sa/da trigger is much better than the da only trigger on the gen 1. Most of my friends carry sub compact glocks in various calibers, and I almost went that route, but I love this gun! One of them is about to convert, and as they all get a turn with my new taurus im sure more will follow.

+1 for the sr9c, its my edc and i love it, never had good luck with taurus firearms but I own 2 rugers the sr9c and a gp100 and I couldn't be happier! i say the ruger hands down, but you should try em both and get what fits you, plus rugers costumer service is top notch!

One more vote for the Ruger. I've had mine for almost a year and absolutely love the comfort, balance, shootability and ...everything else, really. Just a sweet little 9mm. Ruger's customer service is tops as well.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the good information. I have decided to go with the Ruger SR9c, when money is available.
