I want and need better optics, for a Stag Arms Model 6 AR-15. It's an accurate rifle with match ammo. I had the Millett 4-16x50 at one time and loved it. 30mm tube.

The 6-25x56 (35mm tube) is only about $100-125 more and am thinking it may be a better choice for my weak old eyes when trying to range out there. But I haven't seen the 6-25 firsthand.

Anyone have an opinion?

I have the millett 6-25. I do like it and think the glass it very clear. It has a ton of elevation built in, I think around 100 moa. It is a big scope. I can see bullet holes in my targets at 300yds with the scope.

The rings it comes with are pretty high and I ended up ordering the low ones.

It comes with a 3" sunshade to which makes it even bigger.

I had the scope your are referring to on a Savage bolt gun. I will tell you now the scope is heavy as heck and the rings that come with it are very high. It cost me another $60 to get the lower rings I wanted. The 35mm tube limits you a little. The glass was very good on it and it tracked true. I really like the turrets on it. They are tall and the clicks are easy to hear with ear plugs in.

After I sold that rifle I decided to go with a Vortex HS-T 6-24 for my next one. I found a demo scope for $499 and I absolutely love the scope. Easily the best scope I have ever owned and its alot lighter than the Millet.

I have the 25x millet on an m1a and it really is HEAVY AND HUGE!!! But it is very good quality and adjustments are repeatable and reliable. Overall I couldnt be more satisfied with it but would never put it on a rifle i intended to use for anything other than match, predator or varmint purposes due to the weight and relatively high minimum power.

Zero barrier, that rifle of yours looks really familar, hmmm it looks alot like mine!

The 6x25 Millett is a big scope, like everyone else says. I'm not sure I'd want one on an AR, it would be top heavy without a full magazine to counterweight it, lol. I've also got one on an M1A, and it's an excellent scope, but it does add significant weight. Makes a good setup if you're benching the gun or using it supported in some way.

I have both a TRS-1 and an LRS-1. For a few hundred bucks, I thought they were pretty decent. They are not competitive with more serious high-dollar scopes, but for what you pay, they aren't bad. As others have said, they're big scopes. This is ok for my magnum bolt gun, because it helps kill the recoil...but not so good on an AR.

The LRS-1 comes with very high rings, which cost me another 50 bucks to replace with low rings. It comes with front and rear covers, but the rear cover is the wrong size, which is a little embarrassing. At the higher end of the magnification, the picture on mine gets real blurry, although in the 8-14 or maybe 16 range, it's actually pretty decent for 100 yard shooting.

I haven't shot much at various distances, so I can't say how the turrets track, but I've had no complaints on the tracking for the small amount I've used it. It's a mil dot reticle with MOA adjustments, which is stupid.

All that said, I've printed some fairly small (for me) 5-shot groups with these scopes at 100 (<0.5").

For around $600 or less, there are only 3 types of scopes I would have...bushnell tactical elite, swfa ss, and vortex viper. ..they have been proven to reliably track and be tough as nails...I would have to get a crazy deal to buy a millet...
