I have been debating on a scope for my new 700 Tactical 223. I have been looking at the Millett 6-25x 56mm LRS-1. I am unfamiliar with Millett scopes. Does anyone have experience with these scopes? I like the features of this scope but I would like to find out if anyone has used Millett scopes and if they are good dependable scopes.:scrutiny:

I had a Millett scope about 7 years ago. If I remember correctly it was a 6x25 (?). Later I sold it because it was a HUGE scope. However, during the time I had it, it was a very good scope. The optics we pretty clear and it held it's zero all the time. It responded right away to adjustments. I don't remember the model but at the time it was listed as Milletts best scope. Anyway, never had any trouble with it and it was well worth the money.

I have had a millet 3-9x40 on a ruger 30-06 for 4 years and it has given me no trouble. I took it down to MS 2 years ago and killed a nice 190 pound buck with it. Even after 2 plane flights each way it has never needed any adjustments. I do not call myself a millet fan. I am a Leupold fan who was broke as a joke at the time I needed to replace an old Trashco. $100 was the limit at the time and I expected it to last one season which would buy me some time to save for something I really wanted. It's been 4 years and the damn thing still hasn't given me an excuse to buy another Leupold.

Oh and I am pretty sure they are Chinese made, which sucks, but hell, half the crap in my house and all the clothes I wear are also made over there. Whatever.

I have never looked at that scope.
Something to consider (if you haven't already) - it's a 35mm tube. It comes with rings, but the rings are high enough to work on an AR, so they'll be real high on a 700. 35mm rings can be pricey.

FWIW, I bought a 1" Millett red dot for use on my Kadet 22 pistol. Before I even mounted it I noticed a double image with both eyes open. Thinking it was just my eyesight I had a friend look through it and she noticed the same thing. Millett wanted it back for an exchange, so a long trip from VA to CA. The new one I got back was better, not perfect. They admitted the glass was off.

I have the lrs and it is crystal clear. I'm looking for another to put on my stevens 200 build.

Since there are guys here praising the Milletts, I won't comment, except to say that you should make sure that you have the opportunity to compare it to at least one other scope in its price range.

On the other hand, if all you'll ever do is take it to the range and shoot it in the bright daylight, odds are that it will work for you.

And they are BIG.

I have two and they are big and that is why I bought them. They are great for low lite situations. A 6-25x56 sits on custon Rem 700 22-250. I have a 4-16x56 on a 6.5-284 Savage. I think they are both great buys and ideal for my use with these rifles.

Its great scope, just another warning it is huge the model you looking at is 35mm tube, they sell it with 35mm rings, so this thing stands high, this scope has adjustments of 140 MOA to shoot 1000 yards and beyond, just a little overkill for 223 don't you think ;-)
