I'm looking to get a scope fro my M1A and have narrowed it down to two Milletts, or an Osprey 10-40x50.
1. Millett 4-16x50mm Tactical Rifle Scope
2. Millett 6-25X56mm LRS-1 Long Range Rifle Scope

I'm not sold on Millett products as i have no experience with them but both of these seem like solid scopes. I'm leaning toward 2 because of the greater magnification. Then there is the osprey which is reviewed well, but some people's have just fallen apart.

I had a Millet TRS-1 4-16X50. I had no real complaints with it other than it was HEAVY. The lighted reticle worked, the mildots were right, adjustments were repeatable, glass was decent. I shot some really nice groups with it. I just recently sold it becuase of the overall size and weight didn't fit the direction I was going with the rifle.

I've got a Millet TRS-1 4-16X50 mounted on a Remington 700 in 30-06. It is a heavy rig but it shoots well maintains and returns to zero well. I wouldn't want to be dogging with it but if you're on a watch or at the range it works great for the money. You might also want to look at some Vortex glass

not a scope but......I had a millet red dot that fell apart after very little use on a 223. Heck, my tasco and my truglo's held up better. It was a nice crisp dot though. MIllet's a part of bushnell so if you have an issue you deal with them. They're slow, but will treat you ok.

as to osprey, there is a long thread on here somewhere where brand new members with 2 posting chime in and say how awesome they are, but I don't recall ever seeing a member I recognized, or one that had a high post count recommend one. They might be awesome, but I kind of doubt it. I'd be tempted to get a simmons whitetail if I needed cheap power.

As a side note, I wouldn't get a scope with greater than a 40mm ocular for an m1a. Those scope mounts are already positioning the scope so high up above the gun that you don't really want to have to use rings any higher than needed on top of that. But that's just my 2 cents.
