Having recently acquired my C&R, I went a bit overboard on the gun ordering in the last few weeks. This week I had the UPS guy at my door 4 out of 5 days with packages. The attached photo is what my living room looks like this week. One rifle for every day of the week.:)

From top to bottom (and order they showed up):
Turk M38 Mauser
Schmidt-Rubin K31
Yugo M48A Mauser
Yugo K98K Mauser
Czech 98/22 Mauser
Yugo M48 Mauser
Czech VZ-24 Mauser

I can't decide what I liked better this week -- coming home after work and opening the front door to the aroma of Cosmoline, or knowing that I'm screwing California by having stuff delivered straight to my door with no CA paperwork or DROS fees.:D

Excellent! I'm trying to keep up. Since Christmas, I've bought:

Mosin Nagant M44 Polish Carbine Unissued
Ishapore 2A
Long Branch No 4 Mk 1*
Long Branch No 4 Mk 1* with scope mount
Schmidt Rubin K31
Czech VZ24 Mauser
German 98K Mauser Unissued
Savage No 4 Mk 1* (that's been sporterized)

Just can't beat those excellent condition MilSurp rifles.

Congrats on getting your C & R and welcome to a life of perpetual poverty! You'll soon be on a first name basis with the UPS driver. My driver is also a shooter and we've had some good conversations on those rare days when I'm home to answer the knock on the door.

Looks like you have the start of a nice Mauser collection. Don't know how that Swede got in there, but they're great shooters, and at the prices they're going for, everyone should have one.

I'm not familiar with the Yugo K98K. Can you give me some info on it? And where did you get it?

cwalker....the yugo 98 is a "captured 98" ala yugoslavia. Nazi markings are gone and in the place are yugo markings.

You need to get one of these as soon as possible. $150-200.;)

Cratz2 you're smokin the rest of us

BenW--good one on ya!

The Swede got in there because I heard they were good shooters and figured everbody should have one.;)

I started going a bit wild on the Mausers because good specimens on some of them seem to be getting scarce. I got my C&R in December and already seem to have missed the good Turks (mine has a pretty shot-out barrel). I want to get some more MN variants, but am holding off on those for a while until I get my fill of current Mausers out there (plus at least one more Swiss rifle while VGs or better are still available).

On the K98K, it's a WWII capture out of the Preduzece 44 Arsenal. CDNN Investments (www.cdnninvestments.com ) has been selling several grades of them. Mine is a Select and they're already running out of them. The walnut Selects are already gone -- I got one of the remaining Laminated ones and am thinking of getting another before they disappear.

Okay -- closeups.:)
I haven't cleaned up the ones I've gotten this week yet, but here's a shot of a VZ-24 that I got a while back. Yeah, I know -- the stock shines a lot. I went overboard on the Tru-Oil and will probably buff it down some more.

I gave my Schmit-Rubin K31 a work out yesterday at the local VMBAR (Vintage Military Bolt Action Rifle) match yesterday. The course of fire had a 40 round count, targets are steel plates of various size. There was one timed event where having a second magazine came in handy. The ranges went from about 200 yards at the closest to what I estimated to be 400 yards. The K31 functioned flawlessly. I managed to take second place out of a field of I would guess was close to 40 shooters. I have participated in these matches with a variety of rifles including the Finn M39, Sweede Mauser, Enfield No.1 Mk. III, and the K31. The K31 is far superior to the rest. The accuracy, the smooth action, and the detatchable mag make it so.

Your living room, eh?

Interesting decor. I feel that the warmth of the wood and the blue steel really tie everything together. Perhaps a few accents of brass and maybe just a hint of olive drab.....
