I'm in the market to get a new milsurp. I have a mismatching # RC K98k imported by Century Arms that I inherited from my grandpa. So I am looking for another.

Lee Enfield (No.4 mk2 is my first choice but I will settle with a No.3)
Vz. 24 Mauser (I love the Mauser and the Czech's have been impressing me. CZ and S&B)
Swiss K31 (Also know the Swiss make great stuff (chocolate and watches))
Swedish Mauser

A 1903 is definitely in the future because my dad wants one and I will inherit it. I really don't want a Mosin Nagant, I shot one and didn't care for it, but maybe if I find a Finnish 91/30 it might be better. But from the 4 options above which do you like and why?

**The local store has a Vz. 24 on the rack for $250, I haven't checked the bore and condition, the stock looks a little worn which is good cause I want to refinish it. aimsurplus has a vz. 24 for $209 so I'll try and haggle them down only if the bore is good.

$250 for a Vz.24...is VERY high. Or at least, was very high. I suppose things have gone nuts, but I'd think you could go much lower. Last time I looked for one they were more like $140. That's been a little while. AIM is awesome, so I'd be willing to believe their pricing is pretty much on the market these days.

If you can find a Swedish Mauser, they're excellent.

Everyone needs a No.4 L.E. sometime.

But if I had to give back any of my (non-U.S.) milsurp. bolt guns, the K-31 would be the absolute last to go! WHAT a rifle! Bought mine for $125, but I don't think there are any to be had for that price these days. Those rifles are worth far more than three times that and will outshoot a lot of commercial hunting rifles. They're works of art.

K31, 2 1/2 years ago before I knew anything I say a VG+ at a local store for 175, and I could have talked him down, good luck finding one for that price now.

Either a Swiss K-31, or older 1911, or a 96 Swede. These never saw combat and stand a much better chance of being in excellent condition.

Either the K31 or the Enfield. I have both and they won't be going anywhere. If you do decide to get the K31 stock up on GP11 when you can find it.

M39 Mosin
K31 or 1911 I prefere the feel of the 1911 personally
Enfield NO4
Swedish mauser (awesome rifle)

Those you listed I doubt you will be disappointed with them. VZ would be a crap shoot, one in very good shooting condition will be pricey. Better off getting a Yugo m24 or m48 instead.

A 98/22 Persian mauser would be a good choice if you are looking for a more exotic 8mm milsurp. They aren't that rare to find and almost always in great shooting condition.

Of all those the K31 has the most choices in semi-cheap ammo GP11 or PP, unless you want to shoot corrosive surplus ammo through the Mosin which in that case is the cheapest to shoot but thankfully Prvi loads all those cartridges.Brown bear ammo is available for the Mosin but my experience with it is that it is inaccurate ammo overall.

S&B ammo is great ammo but more pricey than PP ammo. The 8mm surplus ammo available right now I heard bad things about.

My thoughts anyway.

Thanks everyone. I see that Norma brass for 7.5x55 is quite expensive, what size of primer do I need for it? I probably won't plink with the rifle all the time but would take it on deer/hog hunts. Is the Swiss surplus reloadable?

Another question, should I order from JG Sales or AIMsurplus? I believe w/ JG I can get a matching bayonet with it for just a little more.

Since I'm already in photobucket, here are some pics to help decide.

Some groups that I have gotten from them so far.

Wow lion, thats a pretty Fin you got there. Seems like they are all pretty accurate so it will just come down to preference.

I plan on acquiring all the rifles that I listed so I will start with the Swiss, the action intrigues me. Thanks for all the info.
