Recently got accu-strut for my mini-14 old stainless not the new one with thicker barrel, I was about to give up on this gun and sale it but now I am In-love with it. It's unreal how well the accu-strut works.
amazing how much they help. I too as about to give up on my older 182 series. but now it is at least enjoyable to shoot. go to perfectunion.com, great mini forum
I have shoot about 600 rounds since I got the acc-strut, before my groups were like 6" if you could even call them groups and I would have flyers. Now at 100 yards I get 2"-2 1/2" groups and I am not the best shoot. before I couldn't sight my optics in at a indoor range because it was allover now I can shoot a 1/2-1" at the range. Cheap steel ammo!
I've just ordered a Accu-Strut for my pencil thin Mini-14, that I bought new in the early 90's. Out of a cold clean barrel it will shoot the first 3 into a 3" group at 100 yards, however, after that the rest of the rounds go into orbit (6-8" groups if you want to say that) with several of the rounds not touching paper. Thought at first it might be the scope, so after several scope changes still no better results. It has I believe 1/9 twist, and I did a trigger job so the trigger breaks at just a tad over 3#s, and bedded it in a Choate Stock with a cheek piece. It seems to like the Hornady 52 grn. AMax boat tail using IMR4198 powder with Federal Bench Rest Primers. I certainly hope this will improve the accuracy of this Safe Queen. If it does I'll get some photos of the before and after up here (targets and rifle)
