I'm pretty certain that I'm going to get one of the new, 580 series, Mini-14's. CDNN has them on sale for a good price. My question is what stock do you guys recommend? I'm leaning towards the "tactical" version that has the collapsable stock as it might make it easier for my wife to use. Anybody out there have this version? Opinions? Reasons why the conventional synthetic stock might be preferred?

Thanks for any advice/opinions.

The length of pull on the standard isn't too long and I don't find the collapsibles as comfortable to shoot. In your place I'd have the Mrs shoulder the standard Mini and see how it fits before deciding.

I strongly prefer pistol grips over straight stocks, so if I were in the market, I'd go with the adjustable-stock model. It not only allows people with short arms to use it comfortably, but it is also nice if you're wearing a thick coat or if you want to shorten the rifle for storage/transport or HD.

I had a 188-series mini-14 Ranch Rifle for several years, and put a Choate "E2" style stock on it for a decade, then switched to a Butler Creek folder in 2004. If I had another one, I'd probably go for the M4 style stock though.
