Rodentman from Apple Valley here. I shoot at Burnsville a couple of times a week. They know me and I don't get bothered. I DID get chewed out a couple of times many years ago, but it's all good now. I am losing my job and plan to "semi-retire" in June, so I will probably buy an annual membership and be there a couple of times a week. More brass to reload!!

Do you like the Gunspot

Do you mean the Gunstop in Minnetonka,or whatever that is over there?
If so, it's a great shop, lots of guns, fairly priced.
Also the most reloading stuff in the metro.

What are you doing over here get back to gun talk.

Bloomington here.

Question for the fellow MN'ers....

In your opinion, what is your go to spot for guns? ammo? and knives as well? I cant seem to find a really good knife store!

I know nothing about knifes.
Guns and ammo, The Gunstop. Learn to reload and get your stuff from there. John's prices are right inline with the internet.

Capra's in Blaine - THE BEST - talk to Todd - use a refferral from me - the OLDMAN that shoots 50's

Frontiersman in Golden Valley(???) - good info - lots of guns
Bill's - fun to look

GunStop - lots of guns and reloading supplies - but a little pricey - some attitudes involved - but info is good - and they love my dog "Murphy"

Cabela's - fun to look - prices are way too high

Gander Mountain - look - don't buy - won't buy after a salesman yelled at me for buying "junk Chinese crap" when I asked if they had any AR-10 type rifles - when I talked to Management - they supported their employee and told me to buy my cheap Chinese junk elsewhere - another issue was when they sold my gun on layaway to another customer/employee, and couldn't replace it.

BUT I buy most of my non-regulated stuff online, which is much less expensive in bulk buys.

My UPS guy finally understands me - he got his CCW license now - and understands why I carry when he delivers, especially when delivering very heavy boxes marked "explosive".

My old (previous) UPS driver used to dump stuff on grass at end of driveway, walk up to have me sign for it, and then drive away, leaving powder, primers, ammo, bullets there for anyone to "borrow" as I was at time restricted to house for medical reasons. Two calls to UPS resolved the situation, one got the guy fired for his style of deliveries for "gun stuff", the other was to get a Supervisor to my address ASAP to deliver safely to my door, he was pissed at what had happened.

Long story short, talk to your delivery personnel that "important" deliveries are coming, and if you are not home, where to deliver and who you designate to sign for it.

I fully agree with Oldman on store selection, except for Capra's. I've never been there. Will check it out, though.

Fully agree on Gander Mountain, though. I like to go there to handle things I might be interested in, but will not give them money for a gun. I just haven't liked the conversations with the staff in that department.

Another neat place that I think everybody in MN should check out in their life, if they have not yet, is Puglisi Gun Emporium in Duluth. Some GORGEOUS old guns there, and some very nice examples of modern guns tend to get dropped off there as well. I saw a perfect example of a colt mustang that I would have gladly taken home, had I not been broke.

TH3180, I don't think we have a good knife store in all of the twin cities, or maybe even the state. Perhaps it's time somebody opens one. All I can find anywhere is the same ol' Kershaw and Gerber pieces at sporting and surplus stores here and there. If you have a thing for Buck knives, however, in Minneapolis, not far off of Como ave SE, is Eversharp - a Wusthof dealer and sharpening place. They are also a certified Buck dealer. Also, every once in a while you can find something sweet at the Sportsman's guide in South Saint Paul. CC Milsurp used to have a great mil-style knife selection, but that seems to have shrunk.

Currently in Mankato going to school, From a small town in Goodhue county though, only county in MN with no lake. Well we do have half a lake, but its just a damed river.

I honestly do not care for Frontiersman. Each time I have been there it seems like you are bothering the guys who work there. Maybe its just me, I dont know, but I had not planned to shop there anymore.

Gander Mountain is a joke, no question. I go there if I want to get a gun in my hand to see how it feels as I have a store near me.

Cabelas seems to have some good ammo deals, but guns are at least $40-50 if not sometimes $100 more than other places.

Went to Bills years ago, not been back in a long time.

I have talked to a guy here DiscountGunDealer.com a few times. I never actually go to the point of buying from him though.

A knife store is really needed here.

live in ind now but grew up in the Brrrrrremidji area, like to get back once in a while and shoot with by brother in st cloud
