Missing proof mark?

I was setting up my new 58 pietta when I noticed one of the two cylinders it came with has no proofs marks on it whatsoever.... any ideas on this one fellas.

Hmmm... I just pulled mine out, and sure enough, one of the cylinders is devoid of any markings. Never noticed before, and I can't begin to guess which was the one shipped in the gun, and which was the spare...

I doubt a "Spare" cylinder would be proofed

"Parts is parts" Cant expect the gun to be proofed with extra parts. Are there matching serial numbers or none on either cylinder?

Check the front of the cylinder. That's where they used to be and I much prefer them there as opposed to the nasty noticeable stamp they are putting on the side nowadays.

No proof on individual parts. Only whole working guns. Even Complete kits were shipped without proofs.

We discuss it from time to time.

We really need an article with links to things like reading date codes and such in the "Essentuals" sticky........
