Mississippi Firearms Permit (CCW) waiting time update

Folks,

Since the State Troopers are being flooded with requests for Firearms Permits (what MS calls CCW permits), I thought that I would let you know how long it took me to get mine.

I applied about the 15th of December (roughly) and just got it in the mail On Wednesday (the 26th). The card says it was issued on 1/24/09.

So that is about 70 days. It "shall" be issued with 120 days, so I suppose that is not too bad.

Anyway, I've seen some threads asking for a timeline, so I thought that I would let folks know an actual time...

Wow, I suddenly don't feel so bad that I'm going to have to wait an average of 45 days here in Louisiana. Only 25 more days to go...

I'm glad it worked out for you. I applied in Aug 08 and am still waiting. I was supposedly "issued" on Dec 17 (full 120 days). However somebody screwed up my prints so I got reprinted in Jan. Now I'm still waiting for the FBI to send back the results, supposedly. I'm so frustrated.

Permits may be speeding up in Mississippi. I applied in early February. Got mine in the mail today. For some reason the issue date on it is 03-27-2009.

Good to hear from some guys from Mississippi here! I've still got another year and a half to go before I can get mine. Let's just hope they'll still be issuing them then!

My initial ccw took almost 3 months but renewals have been much quicker. Last time was just 2 weeks.

Hey, I have heard it takes at least 3 months here in Florida. Years past it took me three weeks and now it takes more than that for a renewal.

Permit times

Here in Indiana-usually has been 4-6 weeks for renewal. Not any more=This time around I got my LIFETIME PERSONAL PROTECTION PERMIT= Thats right Indiana has lifetime permits-no more renewal for me

Congrats! I just got my pistol permit too--New York State. Mine was issued unrestricted, so it covers CCW anywhere, anytime (except the usual: PO, courthouse, jail). New York has to issue or deny within six months, or give a reason for the delay. Mine came just two days short of three months.

Oh yeah, and New York permits are good for life too.

My renewal CCW in WV wait time was less than one week. In fact I think they called me about 3 days after turning in my info.

I could have swore it took the full 120 days exactly to get mine 2-3 years ago. I think they had already ran everything threw and were just waiting to the last minute to send it out. Don't you have to take a class now?

No class required for Mississippi CCW. That is, no education required, not no elegance required.
