I'm a newbie to reloading, and can't get enough of THR forums. Just looking for some feedback from anybody reloading Missouri Bullet Company's 155 gr SWC - IDP #9.

I've only loaded 450 of rainiers plated 165gr so far, and enjoyed every minute of it. All shot well, so i figured i'm doing something right, eh? why not try lead?

I've loaded 30 rounds from data out of the paper inside my Lee 4-die set. I'm hoping someone else has experience with these. My lyman 49th book didn't list a 155gr lead bullet, and it's 150gr had a 1.09" OAL. not sure if i should use this data for the 150?

here's what i've loaded, not tested yet-
1.125" OAL for all
Federal brass
WSP primers
Power Pistol
ten rounds loaded of each 6.7gr; 6.8gr; and 6.9gr

If it matters, shooting XD40 SC.... thanks

Try AA#5,WSF ,W231/HP-38 ,or SR7625 for lead, for me they seem to shoot better with lead .I use 6.9gr AA#5 with 155gr SWC,OAL 1.145 in my Berettas and XDM40.Another load uses 6.4grWSF with the same bullet and oal. They are stronger loads so if you try them start lower and work up.
Many other have good luck with WST also, its on my list to try.

Can`t speak to your gun, but can offer this . Out of my g35 the MBC bullet did OK as did some others, but the best in as far as total preformance was the 155gr from DARDAS.
155gr lswc over 4.3grs of TG
Most accurate, little if any leading, in the stock Glock barrel and very clean.
Note that TG is is a little fast for the 40 but proved to be the best target load of several loads I have tryed. Tryed several charges of PP and proved to be, well, just OK. Again, this out of my G35.
The fun of reloading is finding just the right load combo for your gun.

Some of my 155lSWC are Dardas also because they make .403sized for my Berettas. They shoot great and are 16bhn,my leading problem in these barrels has dropped signifigantly.

Welcome to THR!

If you are using the Factory Crimp Die (FCD) that cames with the 4 die set, it was meant to be used with jacketed diameter bullets (.400") and may post-size larger diameter lead bullets (.401"+) that will result in leading issues, especially in oversized factory barrels (many do not have .400" groove diameter).

Missouri Bullet Company's 155 gr SWC - IDP #9.

My lyman 49th book didn't list a 155gr lead bullet, and it's 150gr had a 1.09" OAL. not sure if i should use this data for the 150?
I believe the 150 gr bullet weight used in Lyman #49 was without the lube weight in the lube channel. If you are using commercial or lubed bullets, the addition of the lube will make the final weight of the bullet to be around 155 gr. ;)

But I would not use the OAL listed in Lyman #49 as the nose profile of the bullet is different. If you look at the bullet/loaded round picture below, I have the 155 gr SWC (IDP #9) loaded to 1.120" OAL with .421" taper crimp that feeds/chambers well in M&P40 and Glock 22/27 but that's in my pistol. You would want to determine the Max and Ideal OAL using your pistol/barrel/magazine - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=7717654#post7717654

Here's load data from 2004 Alliant load data - http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...sg=AFQjCNHnWLp5LTU0YIrdLKjtAjtiKft_jg&cad=rja

I just flared, seated, factory crimped (light crimp) a dummy round, pulled the bullet and it still read .401, the taper crimp read .421 to .422.

I'll load ten or so with the lyman data and 1.120 OAL. when i get a chance.

thanks for the Alliant data, are those loads their max?

I plan on trying different powders in the future when my slush fund builds back up, and hopefully determine my max OAL for my XD40

thanks for the info, all.

I just flared, seated, factory crimped (light crimp) a dummy round, pulled the bullet and it still read .401, the taper crimp read .421 to .422.
Awesome! (as long as they fed/chambered reliably from the magazine ;))

thanks for the Alliant data, are those loads their max?
Yes. Start 10% below max as your start charge and work up from there.

Matt, you are correct. Thanks.

At least the 2004 Alliant load data showed the same max load data as Lyman #49 of 7.0 gr of Power Pistol for 155 gr bullet.

First test shoot with missouri bullet 155gr swc

loaded 10 each with power pistol. @ 30 feet
started at 6.3= low recoil, gun functioned, hit paper noticeable smoke
6.5 = same, field stripped after these, appeared to be clean, some power flakes
6.7= more felt recoil. closer to target. less smoke.
6.8= little more recoil, same poi
6.9= little MORE recoil, closed group @ 30 ft to be within 2"

no cracked or bulged brass or odd primer markings. :D
Not a whole lot of visable leading, if it was lead it came out with Rem Oil and a bore snake.

can't seem to get away from shooting low and left, hopefully i can figure that out.

now i will see if i can determine max oal for my xd40 sc tonight. Still a little confused on the subject.

I use the 180 TC MBC in my XDm40. That bullet is hard and needs the hotter charge to make it work good, as your tests confirm. I got results similar to yours.

. I tried Unique and HP38. same results. Problem goes away using plated 155gr.

Well dardascastbullets if you will look in the Accurate load book number 1 you will see that there is a 175gr SWC also all of thees 145 155 185 195 205 so there is a lot of different weight out there. Some are hard to find.

I think you are about as close as you will get for the load. I'd stay with the OAL you have. You can't get near the lands with that bullet. You might try ed's red for a bore cleaner. I've been looking at that SC, how do you like it? Haven't been to Nnob Noster in half a century.

I loaded and shot 100 rounds at 6.7gr power pistol, 1.125 OAL. great function. best group was 5 shots within 3/4" c2c. This felt like a strong load, but i liked it alot.

I really like my xd40sc, i carry it everywhere SOB and it is compfortable, even with the 12+1 mag it conceals great. I haven't had any problems with it at all, really a fun pistol to shoot, that can also take care of business. The trigger pull is incredible, (not alot of resistance) compared to an LCP or LC9. If you google some reviews, there is alot of positive feedback.
