We had a local gun show this weekend, and fortunately, I got out of there after only spending $14 on items on Saturday. The wife and baby were with me, but it was a "family outing" with us not looking for anything specific. I saw some pretty decent deals on some new S&W revolvers for the wife, some Colt Cobras and Agents for me, and some so-so prices on some Nagants and SKSs.
Later Saturday evening, I was talking with the wife and we got on the subject of the one dealer that had two identical Colt Cobras. We've been talking about getting identical guns, especially for carry purposes....plus it has that "cute" thing going for us having matching guns....ok, you can all say "aaawwwweeeeee" now.
We talked about going back and trying to get both of the Cobras for about $600 for the pair. It seems "doable" just had to talk the vendor down a little bit on each.
We went back to the show yesterday, and we first went over to the vendor with the two new S&W revolvers. One was a 637 and the other was a 642. Either could be had for well under $400. The wife doesn't have a revolver, and I was thinking of getting one of these for her, by-passing the "twin" gun idea for this time, and saving some money by getting a nice, small, snubby 38 for her (she really likes shooting my Colt Detective Special).
Turns out she didn't care for how either of the two S&W revolvers felt, but loved the way the Colt Cobra felt that he had. Before heading over to the other table with the two Cobras (both in better shape and cheaper than this one), the guy started his sales pitch on several other guns, including a couple of Taurus semi-autos, another S&W revolver, a Kel-Tec, and a new Bersa "duotone" Thunder 380.
We left his table, went and looked at the two Cobras, but the wife was still talking about the Bersa 380 and how good it felt, was a decent size, and it was fairly inexpensive (something that wouldn't be a great loss if someone stole it out of the car or something).......we passed on the two Cobras and continued walking around looking at other guns, with us both itching to buy something......
To make this story shorter than it can be (I can be quite long-winded), the wife and I ran across another dealer with the Bersa in the Duotone finish. Turns out, they had two that were consecutive serial numbers, so......at only $199 each, we picked up two identical Bersa Thunder 380s in the duotone finish and consecutive serial numbers......now, we just have to take them to the range.
....I hope she doesn't out-shoot me.
