For summer carry, I have a S&W 640 and a KT P32 but I now want something a little more potent than the .32, flatter than the S&W, and that weighs somewhere in between. I also plan to use either an IWB or smart carry holster with it.

The PF9 isn't out yet, (who knows when?) and will be nearly half the cost, but it doesn't have an established track record. The PM9 has been out for awhile but I am also hesitant to purchase one because of the issues with peening, etc.. Not sure if it is a "mountain out of a mole hill" situation or not but there are always a lot of people selling their PM9's. I don't, however, see anyone selling their MK9's or having read any problems with them.

For those that have a PM9 or MK9 plz tell me your experience with them. Reliability, recoil, likes and dislikes and anything else you can think of.

MK9 here. Great pistol, accurate, reliable, etc. It's a tad on the heavy side (26oz loaded).
edit: The 640 is only 2 oz lighter so not really much difference in weight.

The PM9 is even lighter weight than the MK due to polymer frame but I don't have any personal experience with that model.

PM9 here. No problems with the pistol or barrel. Over 500 rounds down range and no problems. I carry IWB or in the pocket. Yes there is a slight weight difference between the PM and MK, but if you are carrying IWB, that should not be a major concern. If you are hesitant about the PM9, get the MK9. PM9 recoil to me is light, and accuracy is great.

PM9

I bought a PM9 last summer for summer carry. I ended up carrying it most of the year. I would not part with it. I did have a few issues early on, but Kahr took care of them pronto. I had some FTF's during the first 300 rounds. Found out later they had a barrel recall due to some soft barrels. Mine was replaced at no charge and it has not jammed one time since. My wife can't shoot it without jamming due to limp wristing. You have to remember that if you are a limp wrister, very short barrel guns like the PM9 simply won't work since the wrist provides a way for the gun to chamber itself.
My PM9 for some unknown reason doesn't like Magtech ammo. Maybe it was just a bad box.
My summary is this: It is a perfect sized carry gun. It is flat and very concealable. Kahr customer service is great. Recoil is manageable, but it's not a range gun by any means. I'd stake my life on mine.

I shy away from being an early adopter, especially when it comes to automotive technology, stereo equipment and small semi-autos.

MK9 here. PERFECT from round #1. Shot it a good bit-no peening or wear problems. Smoooooth trigger, accurate for a very small gun. My most frequently carried gun. ONLY problem is that it is a little heavy for pocket carry in light weight pants' pockets. You won't be sorry if you decide on this one.

Pretty much my experience too. I have pocket carried and belt carried mine--it's my most used CCW because of its small size. The recoil rod is the only crappily made part IMO. Replaced it w/ the Kahr stainless steel rod after the original plastic one began to bow.

As the guys above have already stated - if you're going to pocket carry then get the PM9, otherwise if you're going with belt carry, the MK9 is a peach.

As much as I like my P32, I wouldn't trust a first run Kel-Tec. :uhoh:
