MILLION MOM MARCH
HARNESSES CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY TO GROW:
JOINS FORCES WITH MEETUP.COM

Two dynamic young organizations are going to work together. The Million Mom March and Meetup, Inc have formed a new partnership to harness the growing power of cyberspace technology to allow the MMM to continue building an already strong grassroots "army" of volunteers concerned about the terrible toll gun violence takes in America.

The partnership will allow the "Moms" to use the technology of Meetup.com to generate monthly face-to-face get-togethers for people who want to work to reduce gun violence in America. Through http://millionmoms.meetup.com, citizens across America will be able to self-organize and meet in local places.

"The Moms are on the march. This organization is getting bigger every day - and we expect this technology will expand our organization significantly in the months ahead," said Mary Leigh Blek, Director of the Million Mom March. "I think of Meetup.com as being the modern equivalent of a town hall bulletin board. We're an organization that can benefit tremendously from these new tools."

"What's more American than groups of Americans gathering and mobilizing around an issue that they care about deeply? The first Saturday of every month is now Million Mom Meetup Day in America," said Scott Heiferman, CEO of Meetup, Inc. "Meetup's mission is to create local group gatherings and help stimulate local community, and we look forward to hearing stories from -- and seeing photos of -- Mom's across America getting involved with a cause that they believe in."

The first "Million Mom Meetup Day" will be Saturday, June 7, 2003 at 1 pm local time. Meetups will commence in upwards of 490 US. cities and small towns and will continue on the fourth Saturday of each month thereafter.

Meetup, Inc. creates global Meetup Days on just about any topic or interest, just about anytime, anywhere -- for individuals, associations/organizations, politicians and more. Meetups are real world, face-to-face get-togethers that take place in 561 cities in 34 countries at local cafes, restaurants, bookstores, and other local establishments. Since launching in June 2003, over 295,000 people have signed up for monthly Meetups on more than 1,100 topics and interests. Meetup is based in New York City and is privately held. Online at http://meetup.com.

From one of them - I live in Stamford CT, and am part of the Social Responsibility Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Society in Stamford. I help advocate about numerous issues.

If you really want to join the P.F.J (People's Front of Judea) you are gonna have to REALLY hate the Romans. Just remeber the only people we hate more than the Romans are Judean Peoples Front & The Popular Front.
SPLITTERS!!
Yeah and the Peoples Front Of Judea!!!
Yeah. Splitters!!

:D

Sometimes life imitates art.

Sorry to disappoint, but I couldn't resist. I am profiled as Canard, but my pic was too small and dark.

My statement:

I really, like, care about the presence of evil scary guns in Oregon. Though I have read in the papers about people stopping crime with guns, my right to feel safe trumps their right to be safe because their means are not politically correct!

What, am I the only one who thinks it might be a good way to meet single moms?

Infiltrate and convert. Maybe some of them would like to go to the range. I bet some of the kids would.

I know, I know, bad logic.

How pathetic is that web site!

Wow, if that's the best they can do they are in deeper Ka-Ka than I thought!

Our guys make up more than 40% or so of the sign-ups. (Do love the hat Oleg, it's to die for!)

Then the next step will be Brady sending out membership letters desperately trying to get them to all write her checks. That will scare off a bunch of them.

Hmmm, single Mom's huh? That's an interesting idea, but when they stop by to tour my house, what are they going to do when they get to the multiple gun case display of WW II battle rifles? It might cool down an otherwise potential relationship, d'ya think.

Boy these folks are pathetic, and dreadfully out of touch with the tone and tenor of most Americans.

To paraphrase a comment Rush made the other day, "It's not safe to vote fro Demcorats yet" or, I might add, for gun control and it won't be for a very long time. I think too many people were reminded on 9/11 how vulnerable we really can be.

This almost makes me want to send Brady a sympathy card, but she isn't worth the 37 cents it would cost.

It isn't blocked by your employer, I can't get on now from home either. I wonder if it is server problems (maybe they didn't actually expect more than a dozen hits:evil: ) or maybe they don't like us.

The site is still up as I can get on with no problem.

What's your hat say Oleg? The infamous Molon Labe :D ?

Greg

Take the high road folks...

I see some not so subtle jabs there. Try to keep it tame and tactful.

BTW, Oleg is gone now.

OOPS!

I left a couple nasties in there, the dumbass picture had me crying so I had to register as A.Hitler.

I refuse to be tame and tactful as they never are to us.

Yeah, I figured out that Oleg was still around after my named scrolled away. I thought they were removing us, but it looks like they haven't figured it out yet.
