I am thinking about a getting 91/30 or M44. Went into Dunhams and they were selling for $129.99. I am thinking this seems a bit high. I thought i saw them selling there for $79 a while back. What is a good price for a 91/30 or m44? Has bought one of these rifle's cheap at dunhams?

Aim surplus has or has had them as of recent for about $69. Figure in $15 for S&H and $85 in a shop becomes a good price.

I've seen them at dunham's for around $79-99.

I've bought 2 mosins at dunhams in the past- a M44 for $35 and a 91/30 for $79. The M44 was junk and the 91/30 was a bit pitted, but still a decent shooter.

Dunhams frequently has sales on the [ahem] "Vintage Guns". Last time I looked, the M-44's were going for $79, and they had some of the Schmidt-Rubin K31's for $99, Yugo 59/66 SKS's for $129.

About 2 years ago, I got an M-44 for $49+tax at my local Dunhams.

I bought both my Soviet M44 and M91/30 for $59 from Sog... or perhaps it was AIM. If you're willing to wait a few extra weeks for the paperwork to clear, you'll find a C&R will pay for itself within the first or second purchase.

I wouldn't spend more than $80 on either a M44 or M91/30, but that's just me.

How old of guns do a C&R apply too? And do you file paperwork with the ATF?

50 years or older, though there are some exceptions, listed in the recieved paperwork. ATFE website can walk you through it - just an application, citizenship form, and a check for $30, good for 3 years. If you buy 3 guns through the C&R, you made more than your money back - mine was the first, as the recieve fees from FFLs out here run about $50. It's also kinda nice getting the long rifle box delivered to your house....you will learn to love the Big Brown Truck.

Often, Dunhams and Big 5 will honor their sale price even when the rifle is not on sale. Just tell them you missed their last sale and would like the rifle at the sale price - they might say no but many times they have said yes.

Big-5 is the place for M-N's if the stores are in your area.
My M44 was $80 plus tax and background. Great shape too!

The salesman said they also had the 91/30 and would give it to me for the same price. I only brought enough for one though. :(

Yeah, Dunhams normal prices are way high, but their saving grace is that the rifles are on sale almost all the time for cheap. Usually, they have an $80 rack. They swap up the rifles every now and then, the ones oin sale will go to reguilar price, and the ones at normal price go on sale. Just wait around, they'll be on sale soon.

BTW, the day after Thanksgiving last year, the M44's were $49. Only problem was, they wouldn't let you look at the one you were buying, just the display one. So, they stayed there.

Has bought one of these rifle's cheap at dunhams?
Here is my $79 M91/30 from Dunhams. Just watch their ads if you get the weekend paper. The woman that runs the firearms counter at my dunhams will take your name, number and what you are looking for and price range and she will call you when they are going on sale. She we also bring them out a couple at a time for inspection. I got a pretty decent SKS that way for $99.

I was in dunhams looking and checking out the M44. It was still $129. I mentioned i saw them cheaper before and the only thing he said if you buy and you see it cheaper in 60 days they will refund the difference. Think i will wait to a sale or i get a C&R.

I bought not to long ago a Yugo SKS for $99. Now i see they are $129.
