I'm a longtime shooter and gun enthusiast, but I'd never been to a gun show until attending the MN Weapons collector show at the state fairgrounds yesterday. After reading many of the amusing antectdotes about the usual patron & vendor bufoonery I was pleasantly surprised :)

Lots and lots of nice stuff, very little non gun or weapon related nonsense on display. I had just spent the previous evening at one of the local gaming establishments and was sporting a nice new roll of blood money won at the blackjack tables. I fully expected to come home with something, as I had a few items on my short list - Marlin .357 1894, Smith 19, Smith 29 or Colt officers model match .22. Unfortunately, I couldn't find one in the condition I wanted at I price I was willing to pay so I came home empty handed

Anyone else snag a good deal or have a good story?

Go back today and check out the Hart Bros. tables, supposed to have a 30% off on handguns since he is rumored to be quiting for his health...his son is taking over but is going to be selling high end rifles it looks like or that is the rumor......I went yesterday, too crowded, going back today.....He is right inside the big entrance, not the little stairways. Too bad he is a really good guy do deal with, have bought several handguns from him.........

I was there yesterday, I was amazed how many people showed up. That place was packed.
A few deals here and there, I only picked up a ar-15 receiver and a few mags.
I didn't have the patience to wade through all the people.

Supposedly yesterday that paying crowd #5300 and another 700 members went throught the building.
Hart Bros was in the main arena floor JEM375 or is that Sonic1 is very incorrect. Hart Bros was on the west end of the building with and end cap of tables. They were marking down prices with pink slips. Not so sure it was 30percent though?

I went yesterday and saw a Colt Trooper that I liked and a S&W CS45.I was planning on buying one of those two but I got ambushed by a series 70 Colt Commander with a really nice trigger. It was priced right and I got to get rid of a .32ACP WWII Unique (it operated just fine, I just didn't like it much). I also bought some ammo, a holster and a few magazines for my 1911s and Mini-14 and joined the NRA.
I then went straight to the range to make holes in paper. I really like .45s.:D

yes, Hart Bros was inside by the big main entrance leading to the main floor, and not the stairs entrances was what I was referring to...and no it didn't look like 30%, but still beat most tables on prices........I wasn't referring to the main entrance where you buy tickets but the entrances into the main floor...

I saw that 99 Savage also...we have 2 in the family, a model A, and a CD...they are our main deer hunting rifles when we are not carrying our hunting handguns.......

Were the DE boys sitting in a circle making ghillie suits?

The Savage 99 was a pretty good deal if it was in nice shape, they have been getting close to $450 lately.

RN22723 posted the wrong dates on his site.

DPMS usually is one of the best vendors easily beating out the others in price and quality.

I found some mags for my 40 and a K-frame target grips for my Model 15. Not the best prices but DPMS was great.:)

yeah, DPMS is really good on their pricing...I picked up a complete upper for my ar15 for $300, they had it marked for $400....

I purposely posted the wrong dates so as to provide proof that MNBlaster was taking my work and claiming for his own! Pretty funny he did not check the dates!

There was never a claim that I did the work, I simply posted public info to another site thats why I left the W's and O's, but since you can't be relied on to get the dates right I have to now double check them.:)

Does the "rn" in rn22723 stand for "registered nurse".:)

Make sure you get involved in the sewing party they just announced, double-check the date first. Quin and death are going to bake cookies too if you want to give a hand. :) WOW

See ya later bud.
