Picked up a like new S&W 10-7 today. Blueing is just about 100% and the grips are like new also. Barrel is 5 inches. Going to the range tomorrow to put a box of ammo through it. I like my 637 but you just can't beat the older Smith's.

Model 10

I just started buying Model 10/M&P's. I have picked up two in two weeks. I have just under $300 total in both. One is dated 1920 and the other 1972. It is an affordable gun habit and now looking for a nice 2".

10-7 5"? No argument here, just a question. Are you sure it's 5"? I've got a pair of 10-7's both 4". As a point of interest in model 10's (which everbody probably knows, and I'm wasting your time) 10 dash even number = HEAVY BARREL. 10 dash odd number = TAPERED BARREL.

Yup it is a 5 incher. Thanks for the info I didn't know that about the 10 - even and odd numbers.

ruger357: Well I'll be durned. 10-7 is circa '77. I didn't know they still made 5 inchers then. Thanks for reply, I'm not a xpert by any means, just a S&W enthusiast.

I'm just an enthusiast myself. Far from an expert. I had called S&W with the serial # and they told me born on date was 1979.
