Model 11 12 Gauge

I have a Remington model 11 12 gauge auto-loader. Works great with high-brass shells only. Low-brass shells don't seem to have enough "umph" to cycle the loads. Is there an easy adjustment that would allow the old lady to function as designed using low-brass shells?

The model 11 is just like the A5 browning. Both are recoil operated and you have to reset friction rings for light loads. You can also grease it up, but this method will break forearm when you go back to heavy loads. Good Luck and God Bless

Yep, it is easy. With the gun unloaded, unscrew the fore-end cap and remove the fore-end and barrel. Wear eye protection; rarely, the spring can escape from the front of the magazine. You'll want to arrange the steel friction ring and the bronze friction piece which are adjacent to the recoil spring (the large spring that wraps around the magazine) so that they're in the correct positions for the loads that you're using.

There's a pretty good diagram, entitled "Placement of friction rings for functioning with different ammo" at this page (link).

Reassemble your gun, keeping in mind that it's easier if you press the barrel back a bit into the receiver (past its resting position, working against the pressure of the recoil spring). Using the barrel to slightly compress the recoil spring makes it easier to gently fit the fore-end into place and spin the magazine cap back on.
