Need help with a value of this piece, A friend of mine was given this by a relative who doesn't like guns. It is a winchester model 12 that i believe is a takedown model, I was told it has been in this leather case for at least 40 years! wich is what i think has caused the pitting on the reciever. The serial number is 7374xx I haven't the foggiest idea where to look for a value on one with a case like this, Any ideas?? I should note that the barrel is 30 inches and is full choke also.

All the model 12's that I have seen, including the two that I own, take down that same way. I don't recall ever hearing of a model 12 being refered to as a "take down model" The rust, and the 30" full choke barrel detract from its value some

I've been told that all model 1912 and model 12 guns were take down except the few Model 12 Featherweights made from '59 to '62. The Model 25 is a solid frame of almost identical design as the Model 12. Maybe someone can verify or correct what I just stated.
natman is faster!!!!!!!!!
S/N 7374XX dates to 1937 by my data.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info guys! Yeah i like the case too! The guy just brought me the original wooden cleaning kit that came with gun, he say's the original owner ordered all of this at the same time.
