Model 37 Ithaca Question

Went to the local gun show today and parlayed a couple 22s and some miscellaneous into a 99% Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight in 16 gauge.

I got it despite the pressed checkering but I just couldn't pass it up.

Question: Was the press checkering on these guns done only in the early eighties? That's what I gather from my research but I am not sure that is currect. Serial No. is 9XXXXX. Can anyone help?

Press checkering was started in the 60's.

Your serial number has way too many numbers "x'd" out to be useful. It's somewhere between 1964 and 1968.
