At about the same time I picked up my M1 (discussed in another thread), I acquired the below semiautomatic Model 65 H&R Reising, chambered in .22 LR. These were sold both commercially and to the US Military as training rifles for the M1 Garand during and after WWII (the balance, weight and sight picture are similar to the M1). This is an early example (S/N 5xxx) with the marvelous Redfield sights, though it is not marked US Marine Corps like some of the early ones. Though since it is an early S/N, chances are good it was used as a military training rifle. No matter, I love it! It's been a little finicky with some of the ammo I've tried (it seems to prefer higher velocity .22LR), but it is one of the most accurate rifles I've ever had the pleasure of firing (it is more accurate than my CZ-452, no small feat). The trigger is smooth, with a nice clean break. The sight picture is excellent.

The gun functions well, though at some point I might want to break it down to give it a thorough cleaning. I think I can figure out how to do that, but I'd rather ask the folks here first before I go do something stupid and loose a hard to find part. I've not had any luck with google on this one.

Thank you.
