I ran into a fellow today who is looking to sell a Win Model 70 in 300 Win Mag with a 5xx,xxx serial no. That puts the rifle in the 1962 or 1963 year group. I would say its in about 90% condition but, I think the stock may have been refinished. The guy wants $500.00 for it. I would appreciate any comments from you guys as to whether or not its worth that much. Thanks

If it is pre-64 with CRF I'd say that is probably a good deal. Most of the pre-64's made after WW-2, and in common chamberings have no real collector value. Most are being sold now as shooters or being used as the basis for custom rifles.

SN's are not always 100% accurate as to when guns are actually made. If for some reason it is actually a post-63 pushfeed rifle, that is too high.
