Model 94, Ruger 10/22 ... What else is in danger?

IMO this is just one way guns aren't as good as they used to be.

A quick perusal of the used gun racks belies this.

There have always been crappy guns. LOTS of them.:) Some have changed in the nature of their crappiness, but a lot of the old guns' finishes were a waste of what now would be decent walnut.

I think the issure remains on ammo affordability. Should the government decide to tax firearms sales and ammo, or require ID stamping of ammo and drivers licences to purchase, the price will continue to go up. Buying firearms that currently have somewhat affordable ammo available now is important.
I don't think the WSM calibers are your friend for the future.

A couple of years ago, I wanted a Winchester trapper or similar Model 94 lever action 30-30. Well guess what, they stopped making them! Now, if I want one, I will have to buy a used one for a premium price!

I'm a '94 lover myself, but only in the top-eject flavor. That went the way of the dodo a long time ago, and some of the prices I've seen are a bit out of line, but there are still some deals out there.

I picked up a 1976 vintage top eject in pretty darn good condition on the THR trading post last month for quite a bit under $300. Keep your eyes peeled and be ready to jump when you find a deal and you'll probably find one sooner than later.

Winchester quit building the Model 94 because the FEDs don't want the average man to have that excellent of a self defense/hunting tool. The FEDs, through their agents, subverted Winchester's business until they could no longer function as a viable entity.

LOL

I'd rather have a Marlin if the SHTF, myself. Easier to clean.

The Feds killed Winchester? ROFLMAO!!!!

"Winchester" disappeared decades ago. The modern 94 was dropped because it was a failure in pistol cartridges and there were millions 0f 30-30s already out there. Compared to a Marlin it a clumsy clunker.

The rifle they should have produced, the 1892, was surrendered to foreign manufacturers who, admittedly, make good to excellent clones. The 92 is, however, just as clumsy to clean and maintain than a Marlin.

Surely you jest. C'mon, really? A 100 year old design in an intermediate caliber, which takes two hands to use and can't hold more than 7 shots... THIS is what the Feds want to quash?

Huh. Interesting theory. I love my M94, but... wow.

Winchester killed Winchester, not the Feds. They are a shadow of their former self.

I have yet to see any of the new Winchester guns. I haven't been haunting the shops that much these days, but from what I hear they are pretty nice, but darn expensive.

Go figure.................but then again, this is the same government that brought us the IRS and VA so who knows. :D
