Mojo Sights compared to a cheap scope?

Those who have Mojo Sights..

First, can you give me a mini (or not so mini) review of it?

Second, how do they compare with something like a cheap scope?

Third, how's the low-light performance? It would seem to me better than most since the front is an aperture as well..
 
I have it on my SKS. It is worth every penny. Rugged and easy to install. It shrinks my groups 50%.

I'm a purist (or stupid, depending on who you ask) and I like iron sights. I find most glass to be overkill for 50 yards, and also, problems with alignment etc.. and keeping zero and also questions of how rugged they are in the field. etc..

Glad to hear good things about the mojo sights.. I can't shoot from a V-notch sight.. So want to change the sights on my Mauser to possibly Mojo's.
 
I've used old mojo and the double aperture mojo. The old system basically turned any mil surplus rifle into an Arisaka-type, with an aperture right where the tangent sight leaf is. The weakness is, most of the old rifles do NOT have a front sight designed for use with a rear aperture. Pick up an Arisaka sometime. The front sight is a nice big pyramid shape. It's crystal clear in the aperture. Now contrast that with the narrow, thin blades used in combination with traditional notch tangent sights. These are much more difficult to center in a rear aperture.

The double aperture takes the rifle to a whole new level, but can be difficult to get used to. I found myself confused because I kept looking for something to reference. But after a while I got used to it. It's extremely good inside 150 yards, and ideal at about 75 yards. VERY fast. But beyond that I found my eyes unable to keep focus.

I agree completely re. cheap scopes. I recently replaced a ceapo pistol scope on my Mosin's scout mount with a 2x Leopold, and it's like a different rifle now.
 
Where do you get Mojo's?? Can't see the fine notch sights on my Mauser. Always did like peep's.

Edit: Oh, yeah-Cosmo: who has a good price on the Leupold or Burris Pistol or scout scopes? Just ordered a BSA pistol scope for $40. Figure I'll regret it!

Cosmoline, how do the mojo's compare with traditional V notch + blade sights as far as sight acquisition speed, low light performance, and accuracy?
 
My old eyes had a really hard time seeing the standard sights on my Yugo M24/47, so I replaced only the rear with the T38, which I ordered direct from http://mojosights.com/98mausers.html. I also got the aperature kit, so I could see what size works best for me. I need more practice with the peep sights, but my younger brother put a nice circle close to the bullseye on his first five shots. The sight only took a couple of minutes to install without any modifications to the rifle. For me, I can pull up the rifle, see the target sooner and get a shot off way better than the v-notch.
 
I bought a Yugo 24/47 and didn't do so well at 100 yards with it. Like 5-6" groups.

I bought a Mojo sight and installed it. I haven't shot it yet with the new sight but it sure made a big difference in the sight picture. This is a very well made peice that is fully adjustable and you can preset your zero and then use the adjustment wheel to raise the point of impact if you will take the time to figure out the values. It was the best $65 dollars l have ever spent.
 
Been considering a Mojo for my M-38 Swede, my old eyes just don't cut it anymore with standard issue open sights.
 
Shot an SKS (I Think) that had Mojo's...I liked it very much...much better than the "V" on my favorite Yugo, Mojo's are on my list.
 
I put a set of Mojo's on my MN 91/30 because there was not enough windage adjustment in the rear sight. Great sights and they work beautifully. Plus, in a few minutes I can have my rifle back to the original condition.
 
I put a set of mojo ghost rings on my M44 and they dramatically improved my groups (couldn't get a good sight picture with the old sights). I also liked the fact that I can make much finer elevation adjustments than i could with the standard sights. I haven't shot in low lights, but i imagine they'd be pretty good for it. I'm also a fan of them on mil surps because I don't really need a scope with the distances i hunt at down here in GA and I don't want to dramatically alter the look of the gun, but I can't get a good enough sight picture with the stock irons.
 
I've got a Mojo on my SKS. For me, it's a bit better than the original rear sight, but it's not great.

This is pretty much for two reasons. #1 - the Mojo is not on the receiver near the eye. I don't gain the optical advantage that I do on a receiver mounted aperture. #2 - The round front sight hood can visually interfere with the forward mounted aperture when sighting. The SKS would really need front sight ears like a US military rifle to work better with an aperture sight, in my opinion.

However, the Mojo is better on the SKS than the Williams version in my experience. The Mojo mounts more solidly, while the Williams will move around.
 
Rojocorsa, I'm glad you resurrected this thread. I put my order in this morning for two sets. One for my Yugo and one for the 91/30. I'll let you know how it goes.
